Taxotere (Docetaxel for Injection) permanent hair loss

Has anyone who received the drug Taxotere (Docetaxel) injection for Stage III Breast cancer experienced permanent hair loss? I have seen over and over again on TV a commercial saying if you had the drug Taxotere, 10% to 15% of the people did not grow their hair back. This was never posted on this drugs side effects.

Please we are looking for any impute you may provide on this troubling issue.

    Hi there - I have had this drug my hair slowly did grow back but thinner than it was and my eyelashes are very short and sparse and never seem to grow. I am a few years out of from taking that drug now so I figure this is permanent now that my hair will not get thicker and eyelashes staying the same.

    Hi Mary,

    I now have a lovely receding hairline that bangs barely cover. My hair grew back like straw and no amount of conditioners, oils ect have helped. My eyelashes are just little nubs now, very sparse. I spend $45 every two weeks for eyelash extensions, which are great. My eyebrows are thin but less plucking so I can live with that. None of my paperwork mentioned permenant hair loss so it's quite frustrating.

    I am in the same boat as Beth, though I am about a year post treatment. I estimate I've lost at least half my hair mostly from the top, and a lot more hair loss around the crown area. However taxotere helped shrink my rather large tumours to virtually nothing, so I don't regret my treatment.

    I am SO thankful I used coldcaps because I think I might be one of the ones who lost everythingforever to taxotere. I am 7 years out and still have not gotten eyebrows, eyelashes, or ANY body hair back. Its bad enough to go through this but to have a completely bald pubic area forever too is really annoying. And I am sick of painting on brows. I also tried those semi-permanent eyelashes, they get glued to the skin. That worked well but its too expensive to maintain.

    I am three years out from treatment. My hair grew back at the sides and back (it's thin and brittle) but it is very sparse in the front. I don't have bangs and the hair I do have in the front barely covers my scalp. Because of this I wear a human hair wiglet/fall that I clip into my real hair. On the weekends, I usually don't wear it but wear ahat instead. It's a pain sometimes but at least I have an option !

    First world problems compared to what you are going through.

    My DH is three years out from stage 4 Colon Cancer, it's almost a miracle!

    Hi,

    I had that drug two years ago and the hair is back fully. Hair grew back curly and very soft. My eyelashes are not as they used to be but I am glad to have them back. Everyone is different so the stats might not apply to you :-)

    I'm so very glad you've gotten good results and are feeling like yourself.

    I had taxatorre for my stage 3 ILC and IDC with minimal response even though my onc was seeking pcr.

    Nearly 22 months later I have very little hair - although I feel good I still look like I'm in treatment and endure the looks and well-meaning comments.

    I too had taxotere (AC&T) for my stage 1, grade three triple negative cancer 7 1/2 years ago. I definitely have thinner hair today in the crown and bang area than I had prior to the treatments. I am not happy about this as it really takes a lot of work to make it look thicker than what it really is, but I AM ALIVE and when I get really, really despondent over my hair, I remind myself of that fact.
