Tumor markers up after 91/2 tears

Hi, kind of freaking out... My CA 25-27 has been at 23-25 every year for the last 9 and a half years. This year it has shot up to 81.1. I have ct bone scan and pet scheduled for next week. Anybody have any words of advice? Am widowed now and live alone so wondering how in the world I would do this all again

    I dont have any advice for you but I am stopping by to give my support. I am so sorry you are widowed. I'm hoping maybe you have children or friends near by who can help keep your mind off this while you wait for next steps. I know others who have had similar experiences will be by soon to offer advice and input.

    I don't know about tumour markers but I am widowed as well but live with my two kids who are 9 and 11. My husband died from cancer last year. I remember being so angry with him when he was comatose on his death bed thinking you bastard, this wasn't part of the deal. We were supposed to grow old together. After all the caring I had done for him and who will look after me when I'm sick. Not rational at all and obviously just part of the grief process.

    Know that if you need to you can do it. I have had to call on all my friends and family to help with both the kids and me and they are more than happy and willing to help. I have also called more charities and support services than you can imagine and while many of them knock me back, someof them are able to provide assistance if I can't manage with friends and family. Before starting treatment I was so worried about how I would manage myself and the kids. While my oldest child still proves to be incredibly difficult there is always a way. Now that I am into the treatment it is all working out and I can see that my concerns were unwarranted.

    I don't know what part of the world you are in, but at my cancer center they stopped doing tumor markers because they are so unreliable. There is a legit chance it is nothing.

    Thank you Bevin. My son and daughter in law and their four children live close, so that's a blessing. My daughter, son in law and their four children live 12 hours away. I do see my son's kids on a regular basis, as well as my son and his wife, so that will help alot. But it's already nerve racking living alone being healthy...I think I'm just nervous about it.

    Thanks for your encouragement! Im' so sorry you are widowed too. My husband passed away four years ago. He had esophageal cancer. It's so strange that both of us have had cancer. And then I also lost my mom the same year from stage four ovarian cancer, and my brother was diagnosed with stage four head and neck cancer a week after my husband died...it was an awful year. So I've been cancer free for 9 1/2 years and hoping I stay that way, but time will tell.

    Hoping all turns out negative. Inflammation can cause tumor markers to rise, which is why most doctors do not use them.
