13 year old daughter with supposed benign tumors each over 6cm's

My daughter has these huge tumors in her left breast she is supposed to see the surgeon on monday she is scared as am i what can we expect during this visit and is there any questions that i should ask that are vital for someone her age. We already know they will want to remove the tumors since they r deforming her breast already because of their size does anyone know any other girls this age having this done who could possibly give her support or answer some of her questions if they have already had the surgery

    this is an excellent site for kindness, wisdom and support. Although your daughter's condition is not cancer, it's still a serious matter.

    Asking about deformity is smart. Also ask about reconstruction options if needed.

    Are they are precancerous?

    If so, should be tested for BRCA1 & 2 genes?

    What are the chances that these tumors can reoccur?

    What kind of monitoring should she have going forward?

    Yearly mammograms? MRI?

    Will the surgery affect her ability to breast feed when she has children?

    Be sure to get detailed documentation of her condition in the event insurance providers (in the future, should you change jobs) denies coverage for future treatment because she is so young.

    Also, the law mandates that you cannot be denied coverage for reconstruction surgery as a result of breast surgery if your plan covers the initial breast surgery. She may want to do that when she gets older. She needs to know her options.

    You may also want to consider therapy for her as well. She barely completed puberty, even though her condition is benign, this diagnosis and surgery will leave both physical and emotional scars.

    I'm so sorry your daughter has to deal with breast issues so early in life. I couldn't imagine facing something like this when I was 13. Please keep us posted. Hugs
