Haematoma

I had a lumpectomy 5 weeks & have developed a haematoma. It was about to break through my scar so the hospital decided to aspirated it last week. Unfortunately it has filled up again and is nearly as bad as before. I was advised to take paracetamol & ibruprofen when I left hospital, which I now read in your in this website that ibruprofen should be avoided. Should I try the heated compress to try & disperse the haematoma now as the hospital are reluctant to aspirate again for fear of infection. I am going back into hospital in 6 days for lymph node clearance so am very concerned about any delays to further treatment this might cause

    I had a hematoma after a biopsy, a bigger hematoma after the first lumpectomy, and a seroma after the second. I put ice packs after the biopsy and lumpectomies, which helped with pain. I guess, ice might not help after 5 weeks. They usually hesitate to aspirate because of the risk of infection. I had once a procedure to remove a hematoma and to repair a leaking blood vessel after childbirth more than 25 years ago, it was very painful without anastesia. I ended up with an injured blood vessel which still causes me trouble.  My latest hematomas and seroma were removed during my BMX. Now  I think I'm getting new ones after my drains were removed. I do not know what is the best course of action for you, I only know that my lumpectomy hematoma and seroma were tolerable, but I think that the seroma started to diminish only after one  month after the second lumpectomy.
