spiculated breast mass on ultrasound - waiting on biopsy results

I am 45 years old and went in for my normal mammogram screening. I got a call back for a 3D mammogram and ultrasound. The found a mass that is less than 2 cm and they said it was spiculated irregular shaped mass. When I have looked it up, it doesn't sound good and seems like my results are going to come back for cancer. Going crazy waiting! Any advice?

    welcome! did you get a biopsy yet? That will be the next step. My diagnosis moved quickly... Monday: Mammogram/ultrasound and Tuesday was the Biopsy. Thursday found out the news, and the next Monday had the breast MRI. The next week was the sentinel node biopsy and then 2 weeks later a double mastectomy.... It was a whirlwind.

    I just had it today Will find out the news tomorrow. I have a friend that is going through it so I understand the whirlwind! Trying to prepare for it but not sure you can ever fully prepare until you know:(

    Waiting is the toughest part. the absolute worst. Sending you tons of good mojo - thoughts and prayers.  Try not to think about what is out of your control, but rather focus on what is.  Are you a planner?  Well, maybe get a gameplan lined up of potential surgeons you've heard good things about and contact friends who have gone through similar experiences.  You may not need this list at all,  but at least you'll feel pro-active about assembling a 'team'. 

    You really can't do anything without a diagnosis- and that comes with biopsy/pathology results. And, should you for any reason have a hunch that your results are not correct feel free to get a second opinion.  You are in the driver's seat (even though it may not feel like it right at this moment).

    Thank you! I found out good news which I was not at all expecting. It is a radial scar that they still want to remove but there is no cancer at this time! I just want to say this forum helped me occupy my mind. I knew if I did have cancer there was an amazing support system to help get through it. Waiting was terrifying but I became so much more informed that I would of been able to ask questions and understand my results. If I did have cancer, I had recommendations for surgeons, radiologist etc so that I would be ready. So I would encourage everyone to do their research. Yes its scary but knowledge will help you navigate the way. I wish everyone the best and will continue to get my mammograms annually!
