90 minutes highway cleanup (my employer adopts a local 2 mile stretch). Dangerously hot but got through it and didn't end up with heat stroke. That's enough for me today - no walk for me tonight.

    Love y'all!

Lisa: I've participated in highway cleanups before and the cars get really close! Glad you didn't get heat stroke.

Hi All! I walked/ran this morning to beat the heat. Afterwards went to the farmer's market. Then I sliced my pinky cutting up one of the delicious cantaloupes I bought. Ouch! Feeling better now.

    Hi All!

Great pic of Ruth and Wonderland!

Claire you are an inspiration so impressive!

Did Pilates and we have an agreement on the lake house!!! So excited and stunned! It's a small all sports lake in the town DD teaches in! We will eventually move there full time. We can't believe it

Awesome picture, Claire! It's horrible steamy hot here too. I was almost glad to have an excuse not to walk (actually two reasons; my heel and the fact I was on my Book Club Field Trip). I heard back from the PT people and have an appointment on Monday.

Tonight did a 60 minute Spin class.

Got a couple of errands to run today, so I'll get a bit of exercise. Going to be too hot for anything else

Wonderland, ouch! PlanB58, that's exciting. I'm sure you will get lots of enjoyment from the new house. Congrats.

Went for Masters Tennis this morning but no one else showed up. Could be because at 8am it was already around 90 deg, but then there was a Pickleball tournament going on so that took precedence. I watched for about an hour to try and get tips; they are wayyyyyyyyyyy to advanced for me.

Dental cleaning then shop with friends so not sure how much 'real' exercise will happen. Oh wait, friend wants to paint so may help with that (one wall!).

    Later sculpted friends.

I need to share a picture of my "restorative omelet" from last night. I made because I had everything and also because I wanted to try with fresh tarragon which I had bought the night before to season my steelhead trout. Amazingly delish.

First thing about the omelet is amazing eggs from the farmers market. Filling is potato with onions, potato, oyster mushrooms gathered on a recent run, and fresh tarragon. First time with fresh tarragon, and amazing. I add salt and pepper to the filling. My favorite omelet ever!

Butter (next to wine glass) is from a local operation which has Jersey cows and makes cheese and butter. Amazing.

Happy exercising everyone. Hoping for a run/mushroom gathering expedition later, but will be after my early evening meeting. - Claire

    Yum!

Road on an exercise bike for 45 minutes and went to yoga. I think I know what caused my tendinitis. I have worn the same exercise shoe very happily for about 15 years. Well, through the process of elimination, I have discovered that my feet have grown half a size, so were being squished into my shoes. (I am pretty bummed as I have an outdoor pair, a brand new indoor pair and a pair still in the box $$$$$$.) I researched the best exercise shoes to buy if you have tendinitis, found the 3rd best at a shoe store in town (the half size bigger), and ordered a pair of the highest recommended. I so wanted to go to Zumba tonight but resisted the urge until I talk to the PT people Monday.

Congrats, PlanB! I'll be over Labor Day weekend! Hahaha.

    That looks delicious,Claire.

Sweet I often wonder how geese are still on the protected list. We seem to be overrun with them.

I ventured out in the 88 degree heat this evening. I thought I'll go slow and stroll. While I was out the wind shifted and it has dropped down to 72 and have quite a thunderstorm.Hallelujah. 25 minute walk.

    How exciting PlanB!

    Claire: That looks delicious!

Ruth: I know you can't wait until your PT appointment. Good idea to get new shoes.

TH: Wish we would cool down to 72!

I walked/ran at 6:30pm and it was 94 degrees. There was a little breeze that helped. I'm not looking forward to the "Heat Dome" coming this weekend.

Did a 5k run/'shroom hunt but most of the 'shrooms are gone until it gets cooler and wetter, so a couple of months off. Have just enough to put on my pork chop. Nice to get in some real exercise that's not cycling!

It's supposed to be hot here next week so will switch to my "cycle and swim" routine. I do 15-20 miles of cycling which includes a swim in Lake Sammamish. Perfect for a hot day.

I can't wait to get real summer veggies at the farmer's market on Saturday. Wonder if real tomatoes yet. Need to restock all sorts of things, including eggs.

I have to do a reasonable amount of training as next big ride is in 3 weeks. If that doesn't make me fit, I don't know what will?

Ruth....I hear you on the shoes. My problem is my fave flats which now have a slightly different shape. The shape of my feet remains the same. Trying to hunt down the older style.

    Dinner awaits. - Claire

Ugh Ruth shoes I know how you feel and every manufacturer has a different feel, then you find good ones and they 'new and improve' and as well as seeing the PT maybe see a podiatrist, the podiatrist really helped me and now every insert comes out and I go to the running store and stand on the machine to get the correct insert for the way I walk and boy has that made a difference. Your dinner looks delicious Claire. Wonderland for the last few days on my FB memories all our Washington pictures keep popping up and I can remember that awful heat and humidity and I am so impressed that you keep running in it, I'd be inside sitting with a fan on and a glass of lemonade in my hand. PlanB how wonderful, congratulations enjoy your new place.

Last night did Body Combat and Body Pump - as I was loading the bar for Pump I had put one plate on and dropped the second plate down and my hand was still holding the first plate ouch it hurt like heck and today my fingers where the plate hit are really sore!

8pm walk for 35 minutes. Tolerable but not pleasant. I hear the heat wave will not break until Tuesday. Perhaps I'll have to get in my exercise early in the morning this weekend.

I won some tickets for the Baltimore Orioles game last night so off we headed up to "Bawlamer" for a night of baseball. Got in over 13,000 steps just walking to the parking lot and back It was fun but very hot - too hot to even drink beer!! We brought our water bottles and they were giving away free ice so we just kept filling the bottles with ice and getting water from the water fountain.Saved calories and $$$. Think we will hit the pool today as it's just too hot to do anything else.

Sweaty hot Body Combat this morning.

Went out to dinner last night and on my way home the brake and battery lights came on in my car, took it to my mechanic this morning but he was closed due to a power outage so came home was supposed to go to a birthday party tonight but just begged off as I don't want to drive in case I do damage. Stinking hot here too so will probably spend the day indoors catching up on DVRd shows in front of the fan.

Have really slacked off this past week, due to the heat and the hot air (political convention). Had supper with mom last night and she is doing all right. Going to take her to see Herb Alpert and Lani Hall in early October for her b-day. Got in a 30 min walk this morning and glad I did as thunderstorms rolled through and it's cooled off but still raining. Got laundry in the works- clean sheets yay- and will soon pick up a book to start then fall asleep reading. Three months to San Antonio trip woo hoo! With all our sore feet, we probably don't want to do the run/walk tour, do we? Good luck Monday Ruth and have a good weekend all.

Ruth, OK to walking but maybe not running? I just e-mailed a couple options.

Reminder: San Antonio trip! Fri Oct 21 - Thurs Oct 27. No-cost lodging courtesy of mom's time share.

Schedule is pretty open at this time. So far we have a meet-up lunch with TX ladies on Sun Oct 23, and live theater (Cabaret) at The Majestic either Tues Oct 25 or Weds Oct 26, but there's a ton of things to do.

Unfortunately, the Luminaria Arts Festival was moved to Nov 9 - 13. It was originally scheduled for the weekend we were there.

Yes, we still want to walk/run. ruthbru will listen to her PT and docs to have her feet in top-notch condition by October 21! Phooey about the Art festival move.

Went to pool early this morning for about 80 mins running in place and meeting new neighbors. There's always new neighbors to meet, especially at the pool. Fun place these here 'Villages'. Then walked around a flea market with friends buying really nice plants at great prices.

    Night sculpted friends.

I got back on my bicycle for an easy 20 miles today. Amazing how much better I look after sleeping in this AM plus a nap. Then onto the farmers market, where I got a ton of peas for $6. Enough for several meals. Peas are my absolute favorite, and I don't get fresh ones very often. These are perfect.

Chicken in sherry with tarragon and shallots is in the oven. Will also roast some veggies, also from the market. Have some '04 Syrah open to have with. I see a feast coming.

My friend Nethra had to bail on the hike (on call as she works at Boeing) so I will got solo tomorrow. Hoping to see the alpine flowers. If so, I will post pictures.

Now on to shell the peas.... - Claire

Decided to ride my bike since it at least creates a breeze. 1.5 hour ride. I was drenched in this heat and 79 percent humidity. I'm trying to tell myself I deserve an ice cream. 🍦

Hi all, I lead my 5 mile Walk Away the Pounds class tonight (minus Patoo)! Where were you???? :) Then took my dog on a walk to the dog park so she could get some exercise! Tomorrow morning is a fun Rock and Roll water aerobics class. You could go to an exercise class every hour here in The Villages!
