Ibrance with Tamoxifen
I may be participating in a clinical trial testing 2 schedules/dosages of Ibrance combined with any AI or Tamoxifen.
Has anybody been on Ibrance with Tamoxifen?

Linda - this is a new and experimental combination. If no one chimes in here, you are more than welcome to join us on the Ibrance thread. We'd love to hear how this combo goes for you.

Thanks Z. If I qualify for the trial, I may have the choice between Tamox of Fas. Once I know more, I will certainly join the Ibrance thread.

I hope it is appropriate for me to reply here -- I am not stage IV but participated in the Ibrance (Palbociclib) feasibility trial for earlier stages. The trial required participants to be postmenopausal; so my MO had me receive monthly Lupron shots as I was premenopausal. The trial paired Ibrance with several antihormonal drugs. I remained on Tamoxifen. My MO (at Dana farber) was the principal investigator on this trial -- there was no discussion of an AI until months later (after leaving trial) when the results of the SOFT trial were published -- then I had an oophorectomy and tried the AI's. (I have since returned to Tamoxifen due to SE of AI's.) I started at 125 mg of Ibrance but had to have the dosage lowered twice (To 100 and then to 75) due to low neutrophils, not rebounding to the threshold of 1.0 on week off. I left the trial after 6 cycles due to persistent low neutrophils (below threshold) and intense fatigue. If I had been stage IV, I believe that we would have made a more concerted effort to continue on Ibrance? Since I was not stage IV, there was no way to gauge if I was benefitting? My MO seemed totally comfortable with Tamoxifen paired with Ibrance.

As you know I'm not on tamox with Ibrance but my MO has suggested that if Femera doesn't work out, I can go back to anastrozole or tamoxifen. When I was on tamox, they changed brands on me & I had terrible SE's which I think is what you're worried about? Changing brands was the ticket for me, no more excruciating joint pain, hot flashes were manageable etc. I am hoping that you can get the Faslodex covered, it's just bs that drugs on a trial are not covered! Makes me so mad for you. dee

Thanks for the tip Dee. You're so right, same happened to me with Femara.
