In July 2014, I had bloody nipple discharge in one breast that was ultimately diagnosed as papillomatosis. The duct was excised and I kinda thought it was no big deal based on the feedback. The procedure was a simple outpatient surgery under general anesthesia and it wasn't so painful - recovery was much easier than the kidney procedure I'd had 2 months prior and scarring around the areola is minimal. Now, nearly 2 years to the date, I woke up with the telltale bloody pj shirt and made an appointment for next day (unheard of! alarming!) with my surgeon's office. First of all, papillomatosis is apparently more serious than a single papilloma? How scary is recurrence? I'm going in guns blazing asking for bilateral mastectomy. I asked for it in 2014 and was told to cool my jets, but I can't handle this ticking time bomb thing. I have a 6 year old I need to be here for.
