Pain in back
Comments

it's been 8 months now since I was found out that I have cancer in my back. Had radiation and on letrozole. Still having bad pain in my back. Should it of gone away by now? Maybe I should get another Mri. Don't like having pain very upset. Thanks for listening

Talk to your medical team. While radiation can resolve bone pain, other issues might be cropping up, like nerve pain, or a muscle pulling on a damaged, but healing area.
Are you taking anything for the pain? Doing any physical therapy to keep the area strong?
Pain can and should be handled, so keep pestering your doctor until she finds a way to keep you comfortable. In the meantime, I swear by ice packs for numbing an area. I have a few healing spots on my spine that like to spaz out at the end of a busy day

thanks for the advice. I am on tramadol for pain but does not help to much. But can't take anything too strong try some others and they made me sick and loopy. I also use ice and a heating pad I might ak my dr. For another Mri

Tychad, are you in the US? If so, may I ask where you're being treated? Have you had any imaging since your dx 8 mos. ago? A CT Scan or a Bone Scan? How recent was the MRI you mentioned? Does your onc do a CA27-29 to determine if your tumor markers are improved since you've been on Letrozole? There absolutely are other meds you can try for the pain, including pain patches, and even a new med that might boost your Letrozole. But it would be helpful to get a better picture of where you're located and how you're being followed up. Deanna
One more thought... Are you on a bone strengthening drug -- Xgeva or similar?

I had a lot of damage to my brachial plexus when I had radiation. It simply just fried my nerve endings, and I have permanent neuropathy in my hand. When I get that residual pain feeling, I use Voltaren Gel. when my mom took Letrozole (we are both Stage IV), she had a lot of joint pain. Call your dr.!

For bad back pain, I take the hydrocodone (Vicodan). I mostly take it at night before going to bed so I can sleep. I can not sleep with pain. Relaxes me enough along with an Ativan.
