Shortness of breath and bloating, mets? Fatty liver?
I just had my second anniversary of my diagnosis. I had a large tumor and chemo before surgery so I will never really know if I was stage 2 or 3. I am on a hormonal and have the usual side effects. The last week or so I have had a heaviness in my chest, shortness of breath, abdominal bloating, heartburn, dizziness, and feeling "off". My liver values are within normal range but have steadily gone up over the past year. Of course I am worried about Mets. I was wondering if anyone has had these symptoms and it turned out to be fatty liver or something else that was not cancer.

I am sorry you are dealing with these symptoms. I don't have similar issue but wanted to stop by and give support. I definitely think you should call your doctor and discuss. after all they work for you and if you have symptoms they should run some tests to rule out any issues. I am certain others who have been through something similar will be along soon.
best wishes.

You definitely need to call. It could be a lot of things from GERD to cardiac to infection to mets. Hopefully it is something benign and s quick fix. Please be seen soon and keep us posted.
-
I agree with KBeee. Definitely make an appointment to see someone; the symptoms could be unrelated to cancer but, maybe not. Better to be safe than sorry! Hope it's nothing.

Thank you for the kind words and support everyone! I saw my GP last week, she ran some blood tests but they came back normal. She said she thought it was allergies, I think otherwise. I have been driving myself crazy scouring the internet for anything I can find. It's so easy to drive yourself crazy. I am uncomfortable and if nothing changes by Friday morning I'm calling my MO.

honestly, the symptoms you are having sound a little like symptoms of a heart attack. I'm a little surprised that your doc didn't check for that. I hope it turns out to be nothing, definitely a good idea to get checked out when you feel off.
-
Sjacobs I had that thought too but this has been going on for 9 days now so probably not that. It's slightly better today but I'm very worried. I do however need to stay off the internet.
-
I would specifically ask them to rule out heart issues and also GERD. I hope you get answers soon
-
Your doctor should check for Pulmonary embolism....regular blood test can not show that. All the best.

As you probably know, cardiac can be common after chemo. I had a heart attack during chemo, but it was not discovered
until 6 months out. I'm doing well now...
Allergies - allergies are more common than most people know after chemotherapy. I developed a wheat/gluten allergy and dairy allergy during chemo. I am 4 years out and I have to avoid those entirely. I hear from many women who have developed allergies after chemo.
So, many things it can be beside mets! Glad you are getting more thoroughly checked!!

Hi MeToo14:
According to Mayo clinic, "Some heart attacks strike suddenly, but many people have warning signs and symptoms hours, days or weeks in advance". It may be some other type of cardiac issue as well (late effect from chemotherapy). Please get checked out soon (e.g., in the ER) in case there is something relatively acute or serious going on. I don't think it is overreacting with the constellation of symptoms you are experiencing (even if you do (as I hope) get an all clear after a more thorough evaluation.)
Best,
BarredOwl

please get your heart checked as soon as possible. My 80 year old father thought he had bad tennis elbow for 4 weeks (and so did his drbut he never checked his heart). He drove himself to the hospital because he had bad indigestion (and he parked the car). He had a lot of blockage and is doing fine at 87.
please keep us posted. We care !!

Sorry, but shortness of breath is not to be ignored per my PCP and onc - if you can't get to your dr. today - go to emerg. - and yes, stay off Dr. Google. Let us know what happens...

my blood test for an embolism was negative. My GP did say my heart was racing. She didn't seemed concerned. I don't feel as bad as I did but still not right. I feel like my lungs can't expand fully. I'm going to try and get in with my MO this week. Thank you all for the advice and concerns.

MeToo, - Over the years, both my husband and I have had that feeling of not being able to take a full deep breath, - in every case the doctors said it is stress related. Perhaps that is your situation, too?
As for the bloating, I was told to avoid all dairy products for 3 full days, and if that feeling improved, I'd know that I am lactose intolerant, - and it seems that I am. (I never was before, but dr said it's not unusual to develop that as an adult.)
I hope that you feel better soon!

Wow. I wouldn't wait. Go to the ER where they will run all kinds of tests on you. GP doesn't sound like a good one imo. I had chest pain/shortness of breath that I gave it time to see if it resolved. Thankfully I did go to the ER and they found I had partial collapse of both lungs and was on the brink of developing pneumonia. Was in the hospital for 4 days till resolved. Sometimes you have to take matters into your own hands and just go to the ER and let them rule everything out, and quickly. It could be something big about to happen like it was for me.. GL

I have a good friend who's in med school that has really driven home to me that though doc's know a bit about all systems, they are experts in their field. Many MOs will not recognize GERD, heart attacks and such. I say this not to scare you, but because I am a paramedic and have seen too many patients who've had symptoms which to me are so obvious, yet they were passed off as nothing by GPs and MOs. chest pain and shortness of breath are to never be ignored
-
KBeee- I have such respect for paramedics. You're the ones that arrive on the medical scene cold, not knowing what is going on. People like me are panicked thinking they are dying and you guys keep us calm while doing your thing. And another thing, I've never seen an unattractive paramedic!
-
Thanks! Not so sure I am attractive, but I do love my job

Haven't been on in a while and wanted to update. I had two chest CT scans, no cancer. I am seeing a pulmonologist in two weeks. I still struggle with shortness of breath most days. I still have all the same symptoms, but since I have started a low sodium diet I am doing much better. All my tests come back fine, my doctor thinks it's just hormones. I was slammed into menopause at 35. I've done my research and everything I am going through are symptoms of menopause. I don't know. I am currently NED but the side effects suck.
