Need advice again please
Hi,
I was here at the forum a while ago and was sent by my GP to the breast clinic..I have a small lump in the inner part of breast along with intermittent stabbing pain in the same place. Had the mammogram done and was sent home with no further tests and told I would get a final letter in 2 weeks...I had to ring the breast clinic today because I had not heard from them and was told my GP had been informed that my results were normal...they had not even bothered to let me know as they said they would.
My question is, I still have the problem with the lump and pain...yet no explanation as to what it is! Am I just being paranoid because I don't have an answer...I do suffer from health anxiety and obviously this is making the situation worse for me.

I also suffer from anxiety and had a similar experience last year.Although the u/s tech told me what I had was a cyst, my dr (who I have since left) didn't do any follow up..I had to ask her myself. Frustrating.
Now a new fear..but this lump isn't pea sized like my last (more of a golf ball)..not as mobile and it is firmer, palpable and visable. To top it off, I have to wait 4 WEEKS to look into it further. Talk about anxiety.
Call your dr for word for word diagnosis and get a copy of the report for future reference. It belongs to you. I'd rest easy for now though, of they told you it was normal, then it likely is. Both breast cysts and fibrdenonas can cause pain as you have described. It's annoying.
Blessings sent your way

I had a Cyst that was incredibly painful... in fact, pain is a sign of a cyst rather than cancer. I started noticing it would become stronger pain during my cycle and then subside only to come back next month etc. .. That reassured me it was hormonal and likely not cancer.
It was only when I found a lump like Mama V describes. Hard marble with NO PAIN, that I freaked out and discovered it was cancer. (the mammograms missed it since I have very dense and cystic breasts). -
Hi Mama,
Thank you for your reply...it is frustrating! They told me I would get a letter and I finally have to ring them myself. I cannot get an appointment with my GP until next Wednesday...so more worry until then.

Hi Lisey,
Thank you for your reply...I know this is not cycle related as I have not had a period for at least 6 years. How do you find out if you have dense breast tissue...will that be in the report sent to my GP?
-
Younger women tend to have denser breast tissue and so mammograms and ultrasounds don't work quite as well. (Still, keep in mind that a large number of "lumps" are benign with biopsy.)
