Surgeons in Dallas, TX Leitch vs. Ganaraj vs. Rachel Zent
Hello All,
My mother was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. I'm trying to find a really good surgeon in Dallas, TX. I've noticed Dr. Leitch, Dr. Ganaraj, and Dr. Rachel Zent have pretty good reviews. Can anyone please let me know what your experience was like with these 3 surgeons?? We are trying to pick the best doctor for her. Thank you soooo much for your help.

Hi, Sorry to hear about your mom.
It may be worth making appointments with a few, and see which one is a better fit from treatment suggestions, to personality and location.
Perhaps others will chime in!

I have been to at least 5 of the "top" doctors in Dallas. Use the search engine and look at all the reviews of Dallas doctors. I ended up with Dr. Rao at UTSW and could not be happier. Hard to get in to see her but definitely worth it.

Dr. Rao was also my surgeon. Dr. Ganaraj was recommended but she was away the entire month of December last year when I was interviewing surgeons. I also saw Dr. Alison Laidley whose schedule & mine did not mesh for surgery. There was a male surgeon who I interviewed who I have nothing nice to say about so I will say nothing. I don't know of Dr. Zent. Good luck!

We interviewed 4 surgeons - Dr. Zent, Dr. Canavan, Dr. Leitch and a newcomer, Dr. Gennieve Hughes.
Chose Dr. Leitch. She is a top rated surgeon at a top rated research and teaching hospital, UT Southwestern Medical Center. However, don't expect much in the bedside manner category.
Dr. Hughes was our second choice. She is at Methodist in Richardson-which I wouldn't recommend, but she also has privileges at Baylor Plano.
Good luck - it is a daunting process.

Thank you all... For those that chose Rao, I'm curious why? She and Leitch are both at UT Southwestern, and it seems Leitch has more experience. I'm wondering if I should try to get an appointment with Rao instead of Leitch??

My best friend used Alison Laidley. She loved her.
I went to Dr. Mary Brian in Bedford. My vote goes to her any time.

I don't believe you can go wrong with any BS at UTSW. Dr. Leitch was my BS - she is very direct and to the point during her consultations. That said she always took time to answer any and all questions I have had through this process. I believe that her directness may be too much for some patients, after-all the diagnosis can be very emotional and overwhelming to the patient. I found that Dr. Leitch's confident manner was reassuring especially when I was struggling with so many decisions. This is only my opinion!

Wanted to pass this along. I met Dr. Nguyen for a consult and he's excellent. I hope you never need him but this is a great opportunity for Q&A on LE next Tuesday night. Hope to possibly meet some of my BCO friends.

Could you let me which doctor you chose in utsw.? I just got diagnosed and look for a BS. Thanks!

Hi Braver17 - sorry you got this news. My surgeon at UTSW was Dr Rao. I am 18-months post surgery and happy to help in any way I can. lots of great info and support on this website as well. Hang in there.

Dr Rao has moved to NYC. I am so sad. Didn't even get to have one last appointment before she left.

I saw her end of July but she didn’t say anything. Found out when. I got the letter. Are you staying at UTSW? And if so with what BS? So upset.
