Proton Therapy

Options

Hi everyone! I have just completed 4 of my 33 treatments of proton therapy instead of traditional radiation I chose this so my heart and lungs would not become damaged because I know ladies who now have heart damage due to the radiation. My issue is some people are telling me I messed up. Has anyone else had family and other doctors tell you you should have had a mastectomy, or traditional radiation? I'm just so upset and nervous now of the choices I made.

I'm stage 2B (+ + -) and had 4 rounds of a/c and 12 taxol chemotherapy. I went to MD Anderson and they performed a lumpectomy and removed 21 lymph nodes. Now I'm doing proton therapy.

Other people always have opinions. The important factor is that you feel you have good doctors, who helped you to make a thoughtful, educated decision. There isn't much more we can do. However, if you are truly feeling unsure, you may feel more comfortable if you go and get a second (or third) opinion from another doctor, or treatment team.
