Biopsy Friday
Hello,
I was diagnosed with breast cancer last May, and had a mastectomy last July. At the end of May of this year I found two lumps on my mastectomy side. Only one showed up on the ultrasound. Neither showed up on the mammogram, which really, I don't know how it'd be that useful anyways since I have no breast tissue.
This is what the ultrasound shows, a solid ovoid echogenic nodule is identified with blood flow on color Doppler. It's a bi-rad 4.I go in for a biopsy on Friday. It's on top of my implant and adjacent to my pectoral muscle. The radiologist said due to my history and it being similar to my original tumor, a biopsy is the next step, which I'm thankful for.
I won't see my breast surgeon until the following Thursday. It's going to be a little difficult waiting.
I know what the process is like, and having to wait, so in some ways that is helpful. The unknowns are still difficult because I've seen what can happen. I'm preparing myself for the best or not so good news.

hello unbreakable01, I am hoping that yours is benign. I am having my biopsy in the morning. It is most likely not cancer but the fear is still there. It is making me take a look at my life and the things I need to do differently.

I hope everything turns out well for you. Let me know how things go. Anytime there is a possibility of cancer it's hard not to think of what might happen.
After going through it last year, it was definitely a time for me to re-evaluate life. I like being in control of my life, and I couldn't at that point. I had to release that to God. There have been great blessings that have come through this journey as well. I have met some amazing people I would have never connected with. I'm making my friends and family truly aware of this disease, more than a pink ribbon could do. I'm not against the pink ribbon, but I knew breast cancer exists, but I didn't know all the ins and outs until going through it. I've been able to be in the Huntington Beach July 4th Parade with Susan G. Komen.
These moments do help us evaluate what's most important in life.
I'm praying for B9 for you!

thanks for your words. I am sure it can change the way someone thinks or looks at the world. I know my life has been turned upside down many many times. I hope your results are benign also!!!!!!! Keep us updated..

I asked the radiologist if he thought it was scar tissue or fat, he said no. This lump has blood flow, which is characteristics of cancer. However it has smooth edges and is not taller than wider, so that has a benign characteristic, although it looks like it's in the muscle. Really, I just have to wait until next Thursday when I see my surgeon.
Let me know how things turn out with you. Hoping for those great words b9!

mine is not cancer. I'm very happy with the results. My breast is very sore, swollen and bruised. How long does the pain last for? Keep us updated on your results!!!

im so happy for you! The pain should last a few days. This time I was more sore than the first. It might have been where they poked or who is poking you too.

I saw my surgeon today. Pathology doesn't show cancer, but the cells are atypical. My surgeon doesn't like them so I'm getting sent for an mri, and then have to go get surgery again so she can remove the lump.
How's your bruising? I didn't bruise too bad, but still bleed on and off

I don't have cancer, yay! However I do have atypical cells. That was something I didn't research, but then I did afterwards. If left it could turn into cancer, not always. I'm getting an MRI next week, meet with the surgeon the following week, and we discuss surgery. She wants to go in and remove it. The MRI will show if it's in the muscle. All I have left is skin, muscle, and the implant. If she has to cut it out I'm hoping she doesn't take too much of the pec muscle. I can't lift the way I used too, I'm easing back into it, and if some of my pec muscle is gone that'll be a little harder.
