Let's Post our Daily Exercise

Welcome Polkadot. We have a lot of fun here, and the ladies provide good inspiration.
Yesterday I took a day off - had lunch with a friend and DH and I went to see Tarzan and then ate out. So I had to work off some calories today after two restaurant meals! We had another beautiful day - 75 and sunny. This has been the most beautiful, perfect Fourth of July weekend weather, with the bonus being its been dry enough that the grass hasn't grown much so I don't even have to mow! DH and I went for an hour long hike today on the trail - well one hour and one minute because every minute counts!
-
50 minutes of toning & a little tiny walk. We host our annual 4th of July picnic tomorrow, so the rest of the day has been spent sprucing up the yard, dragging out tables, tablecloths, coolers & the like. Since my house is a split level, I will be getting lots of exercise tomorrow running up and down the steps with food etc. etc.
-
Thank you all for the kind welcome!
I did another 30 min on the treadmill today. Our gym is closed tomorrow and my shins have always been super sore whenever I start a fitness routine, and true to their form....they are feeling splinty, so I'll probablytake it easy for the 4th.
I do like purses, ruthbru! Polka dots too and when I found this website, I couldn't think of a name, so saw my purse and thought, "That'll work!"
Everyone have a safe and Happy 4th!
-
Beautiful day here as well! Did 9 holes of golf today and various house tasks. Enjoy the 4th everyone!
-
Gorgeous day at Lake Simcoe with the kids. Lots of my SIL's family was there. The sky was blue, no clouds and sunny just like Colorado weather! Not humid at all. I got 2 nice walks in, one early this morning before we left and one at the cottage. I don't think my Fitbit recorded properly yesterday as more steps today but less time walking. Also battery is only lasting a few days!
Think tomorrow DD and I will go downtown. Then I will take the kids out to dinner. Tu say we are meeting 2 bco sisters for coffee in the morning. Then come home eat lunch and onto the airport. I need to re-pack my suitcase and re-arrange things si I have at least one change of clothes in carry-on. Also going to do some laundry so leave with all clean clothes! Want to be packed by the time I go to bed tomorrow night, it shouldn't take long.
Hope to get lots of walking in tomorrow!
-
Led mysunshine's class and did 5 mile walk with Leslie Sansone. Then some dancing at the square. 18,000 steps today.
Tomorrow is my sister's 71st birthday so hitting a flea market in morning, pool in afternoon, surprise dinner with friends then maybe fireworks if we feel like travelling about 45 minutes away. Sidewalks here pull in by dark so they don't do fireworks as we seniors need our sleep (happy hour at the squares here are from 11am to 7pm ).
Happy 4th sculpted friends.

Oh, welcome Polkadotpurse - love that screenname. Did ruth invite you to San Antonio yet?
-
Some of us exercise thread ladies do a yearly road trip. Here is the last, last, last reminder for anyone who missed it:
The 2016 Let's Post Our Daily Exercise Thread Road Trip is to San Antonio October 21-27. Badger's mom has a time share at the Wyndham Resorts which she very generously lets us use; if you come your lodging will be free (although you have to be flexible about sharing a room etc. depending on how many people show up). If you are interested, drop me a PM with your 'real' name & email address and I will put you on our email group. We do need a firm commitment by the end of this week (for sure!), as we want to start getting tickets for a play and other events that need reservations. Even if you can only come for part of the time, we would love for you to join us!

Been catching up with everyone's doings. Right now, I am having some wine while dinner cooks. Wonderful local food after a long day of cycling. I am over the 100 planned training miles with another ride planned for tomorrow. But not without a hitch or 2.
I took Friday (mostly) off and did 23 miles of the 35 planned miles. FLAT TIRE, so I walked 4 miles to Carnation and just missed the Toonerville Trolley back to my car. So I had an iced tea at Starbucks and chatted to people. Actually fun. Then I went to the bus stop and eventually it came. Was very glad to see that it had a bicycle rack in front, but even odder is that this is a courtesy shuttle, so instead of saying "pay here", it said "a donation of $1 would be appreciated". The driver admired my bicycle and drove me to where my car was parked.
On the way home, I stopped at the place that has prime meat, supermarket prices, so I got a steak and pork chops, plus fresh local beans. Then on to the real farm stand where I got amazing veggies for $10 (honor system where you put money in the metal box on a pole). I had the steak that night (super yum!!!), and making a pork chop now. After I got home, I went out to the far end of the running trail and picked a bag full of wild mushrooms I had spied earlier in the week, so did a 5k run on top of everything else. (They were fab on my steak, and I am trying to think what I want to do with the rest.)
The good news from that ride is that my new (to me) cycling shoes are now nicely broken in!!! What a difference too.
Yesterday was off to the bike shop where thank goodness, the problem was a defective tube, and not another problem with my new rear wheel. This flat tire stuff is getting old. So with a new tube, I did another 20 miles on the flat trail. This was followed by items I needed from the farmers market...such as tonight's potatoes which I am cooking with the farm stand Swiss chard. A quick shower and donning glad rags, and off on the bus to Seattle. I got some makeup items I needed, shopped but found nothing at the resale shop, then repaired to the wine bar to meet a friend. I also met one of my wine drinking friends who stands about 4' high, has long legs and a tail. (A very mellow Great Dane who was holding forth...this is technically a retail shop so dogs and children are allowed.)
On the way home, there was an accident so glad I was on the bus where I could snooze. It was fun catching up with my friend too. Someone I used to date, but glad I realized that friends was the way to go.
Today was my real ride which I did with another friend. I feel like toast now, but I did do the 60 miles. I think my friend is the worse for wear as double what he normally does. But great fun and we didn't get wet!!! No flat tire so hope the "four flats in 6 weeks" time is behind me.
Quads are talking to me and glad I was able to rouse myself to make a major dinner which my body needs to refuel from today. At this point, I really am ready for the BIG RIDE. Can't wait for the 2 weeks when I will be able to say that I'm 10 for 10! - Claire

Yea Claire!

Welcome polkadotpurse. Woohoo Claire. Safe journey Karen. I'm looking forward to seeing the hill country when we go to Texas Annie. Lovely picture PlanB.
Have been house sitting/dog walking in Newport but today had one of 'those' days. Friend invited me to her yoga practice over in HB and as I need a pedicure for next weekend and won't have time before I go thought I'd kill two birds with one stone, halfway to HB I realized I had left my phone in Newport which is okay except my DL and CCs are in my phone case also my gym card - breath stay calm, you're on your way to yoga, stopped by my house as I had a gift certificate for a pedicure and some cash at home, okay gym done, pedicure done back home love on my doggies get in the car stop by my office, leave office realize I left my purse at home in HB hmmm nah don't need it I have my CCs in my phone case drive all the way back to Newport pull in the driveway - key to the house is in my purse in Huntington, pull out of the driveway and back I go .... Like I say one of those days, it's good I don't mind driving because today I could have driven myself crazy
-
Ah, Cheryl, I've had those days, frustrating! Have you seen this spoof on "Memory"?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzSaoN2LdfU
Welcome PolkaDotPurse! I'm primarily a walker but slip in some yoga now & then.
Spent most of Saturday doing yard work. Hardest work was moving flat stones into a mosaic to cover the muddy clay uncovered when we took down the wheelchair ramp. Would have been too much work digging it out to plant flowers. Yesterday went to MIL's house for family BBQ. Lots of fun and picked up mom to join in the festivities. Good for her to get out and she had her first bratwurst! Cleaned house this morning while DH mowed. Going to chill out the rest of the day, have leftovers for supper and maybe see a movie - Independence Day or Tarzan - haven't decided yet. Oh, yeah, exercise (LOL) - walked each morning Sat Sun Mon.
-
OMG Badger that was funny!!!! This morning went to Body Combat and Body Pump, both classes were packed to the rafters. Will walk dogs in a while and that's it for me today. Happy 4th everyone.
-
badger, glad your mom got to get out. Say "Hi" to her for me. Exercise today was just walking around here and there. Only 5500+ steps so maybe a few more going to fireworks. Need lose 2 more lbs by Wednesday Primary doc checkup.
Later sculpted friends.

Welcome PolkaDotPurse! You will love this thread!! Wonderful Ladies!!!
Did a lot of walking in Reno!!
Enjoy your trip, Karen!! Prayers for safe travel!!
So wish, I could join you ladies for the trip to San Antonio! You will all have so much fun!! How generous of Badger's Mom to share her condo!
-
Nice day with my daughter. We took the bus and subway downtown and walked the water front. Gorgeous day out....my perfect summer weather....blue sky, sunny and 75.....my rant....How does my daughter's Fitbit record 26.5K steps and mine 22.2K steps when we walked together? Beside, I walked an additional 45 minutes early this morning before she was up!! She had 10.96 miles and me about 8.4. I kept changing my stride length, nut don't know if that made a difference. So frustrating! If she got 26.5K, then I did over 30! I know it's about the same exercise, but if I'm going to wear a Fitbit, th n want it to be accurate.
Your DD and SIL out to dinner. I had a salad nicoise. It was good but not great....canned green beans!
Going to go short walk. DD just said, you didn't walk enough tonight! Yes, but I usually walk at night so at least need a short one. Then laundry and pack.
-
Badger - tell your mom congrats having her first brat - all she needs to have now is some cheese curds and she'll be a real Wisconsinite!
And your Brewers keep giving my Nats fits - you guys really have our number this year for some reason. Claire - you've certainly been good about your training for the Big Ride - can't wait to hear all about it. Welcome, Polkadotpurse - great name! Have a safe journey, Karen. Cheryl - I hate those CRS days!
More Garden N Sculpt over the weekend - lifting bags of mulch is definitely an upper body workout! On the 4th we went to a small town in PA near the cabin that has a big Summer Jubilee Fourth of July festival, including the Firecracker 5K. I ran it and won another medal - this one was for second place in my age group. I'm loving hitting that 60-64 age group - the competition is a lot slower now.
Here I am with my medal, and another one of me doing my best impression of Lady Liberty!
-
Congrats Mary! Well done.
I would still finish last in my age group. I am counting just finishing when I do a 5k. Although I think running shoes are next on my list of items I need to replace.
I did 25 miles yesterday to complete 128 miles for the long weekend. Today will be only walking as need to give my legs (and other body parts) a rest. Big Ride is in 2 weeks.
I will be doing a second ride of ~200 miles to Vancouver BC in August. Plus, I think 3 other rides from 40-70 miles.
It's interesting how the body really does respond to training. I am so much fitter than just 2 months ago. Really, really, really enjoying my souped-up bicycle. It was obvious yesterday when I did a route I hadn't done since I had it rebuilt. Much more fun and seemed a ton easier, thanks to upgraded wheels plus training. - Claire
-
Went to Pound, did yoga....they just waxed the studio floor so we went outside,...which was really fun.
I am going to make breakfast for the walking women tomorrow instead of walking & have an appointment with the doctor about my heel later that morning....boo hoo, but probably should have gone in about a month ago .
-
WTG Mary! Mom has had fresh squeaky cheese curds and loves them. Beer not so much...
Heard this morning that the Brewers beat the Nats and couldn't believe it. So sorry!
Ruth, hope the doc has a good explanation and treatment plan for your heel pain.
Left work early today. Amazing how some ibuprofen and a walk eased my headache!
-
Great job Mary!
Claire I thought of you yesterday when I did a 10 mile bike ride. My rear was so sore.I am so impressed with the amount of cycling you do!
Hope you get some answers to your heel soon Ruth.
I did upper body today and various household tasks. Tomorrow I am going back to my classes! Will be excited to see my girls and hope to keep up!
-
PlanB, I ride about 11 or 12 miles, and I agree with you. I can't see how Claire every recuperates! Although it is so much fun. Just later, not so much.
Go, Mary, Go! Kudos for competing and medaling both!
I went for a new pair of shoes at the Sports Authority sale. In case you haven't heard, they are going out of business so everything on is on sale. While I was there getting shoes, I saw a mini trampoline, so I bought one and I've been doing a little exercising on thatsince Sunday. Its fun and you can get your heart pumping quite well, plus I feel quite a workout in my legs. Nice to have something I can do inside, and its probably good just to use some different muscles.
-
Here's the Walking Women ready to eat breakfast (notice how they turn out in droves when someone volunteers to cook!).
Well, I have tendinitis. No walking (except to get from one place to another), no Zumba or other such activities. Yoga & all stretching is fine. Basically what it needs is rest. Interestingly, he told me to buy some shoes with a wedge heel because that gives the back of your leg more of a lift than flats (even well supported ones) and takes the pressure off the Achilles. Heel lifts in closed shoes are also helpful. I am going to my sister's in NC next week for our annual Girls Beach Vacation; but if it is still bad when I get back, he will refer me to PT. So instead of taking long walks on the beach, I guess I will be sitting under an umbrella motioning for a cabana boy to bring me a beverage. Darn!
-
Oh Ruth, I am so bummed for you! Hopefully you can do a little ocean toe-dabbling. Nice-looking group of RW&B ex-teachers!
My foot thing is probably a plantar fibroma, which is a lump in the arch of the foot. The treatment is padding. There go my carefree barefoot days.
Met up with some girlfriends after work. We got to gabbing and it was late when I got home so no walk 2nite.
-
Just got in from a 5k run as resting the part that touches the bicycle seat. A couple of things make a real difference: 1) a small, hard seat and 2) padded shorts or tights. I think the second is even more critical.
Sorry about the tendonitis, Ruth. These things are no fun.
Glorious evening here...cool and lovely. I got some more mushrooms in the woods so will have with my pork chop. YUM!!! Think I will make some more carrots to have with the other veggies already ready to go. Life is good. Planning one more ride tomorrow after work. Then a couple of weekend rides. Only NINE MORE DAYS!!! - Claire
-
Twohobbies the mini tramp sounds like it's fun and it is nice to switch it up!
Ruth- sorry about the tendinitis. laying on the beach getting drinks from a cabana boy sounds like the perfect treatment for it! Enjoy!
Went back to class today. It was great seeing lots of the regulars. Did Pilates today lots of work with the magic circle will be feeling it tomorrow. My cardio class is replaced on Wednesdays during the summer so did not get that in. Might go and experience Zumba gold tomorrow and get my dance on
-
Wow Mary, you look great -- very strong and fit, well done on the 2nd place finish. Take good care Ruth with recovery and lovely photo this week. Thanks for the heads up TwoHobbies on the closing sale at Sports Authority. Claire, your training seems to have paid off and sound extremely road ready. Launched new release BB #73 this week and smashed it first class, yet felt of of sync in a few tracks last night so I'm going in this afternoon and practice as I'm covering a top instructor tomorrow and want to deliver as much perfection as possible, as it will be my 3rd time teaching it. Been busy with plans and baking for our Pink Ribbon Pilates Wellbeing Day on July 16th. This is our yearly fundraiser, a day of different classes, talks, 2 body work sessions of choice, garden walks and a yummy veggie/vegan/gluten free lunch with a awesome dessert table piled high. We have 40 participants, our 3rd year and hoping for no rain. HeidiHill, where are you dear one? Absolute nightmare on UK political front and UK in general since the referendum, so keeping my head down, focusing on family and precision movement and timing.
-
Oh Ruth - bummer! Sadly, rest does seem to be the best thing for tendonitis. Sorry about having to sit on the beach with the cute cabana boys - it's a tough job but I know you're up to it. Represent the Sculpted Sisters well out there! Badger - my Nats finally beat your Brewers last night - you guys are pesky to say the least!! Claire - I think you must have been a gourmet chef in a previous life - your dinners always sound so yummy. Lilac - aww - thanks for the compliment. I can't believe this is your third year for your fundraiser - wow. What a success that Pink Pilates program has been and think of all the women you've helped. We're having an absolute nightmare on the US political front too, so you're not alone!
2.5 mile run this morning. Our typical DC hot and sticky summer weather has kicked in, so I had to get up and out before 6am to try to avoid the worst of it. Groan - I HATE getting up in the morning! But at least I got to enjoy several bunnies, a flock of Canada geese who could barely be bothered to move out of my way, and one doe. No gamboling fawns this morning - maybe they took a quick trip to Vegas.
-
Lots of walking today, broke 30K. I have a blister the length of my toe that started in Toronto. I walk in my Chaco sandals which have loads of support, but I guess that doesn't stop a blister! So far it's not painful.
It is HOT....drinking water, but think I need to drink more as I developed a headache both yesterday and today. Of course I'm not getting enough sleep.
Still haven't figured out my last 8 days! Guess I best do that soon. Will come back to Jerusalem for a couple days and also go to Netanya. I need to email my gf's husband and see what is good for him.
I haven't really taken any pictures. Don't know how to post here, but will post on fb when I get home. No longer post pictures when I'm traveling.
It's after midnight so I best get to bed
-
Ruth, prayers for healing quickly!! You can not keep a good woman down!!
