Nausea After Chemo Finished?

Hello everyone, I am relatively new here but have been lurking as a reader since my diagnosis in March.

I just completed chemo, which ended early (I had 4 of 6 cycles due to complications).

My last infusion with chemo was on June 9th (roughly one month ago) but I am still feeling extremely nauseous even though I am only getting hormonal infusions now (Herceptin & Perjeta) and I'm probably antsy and wanting to feel better, but how long does the nausea typically last when chemo is over?

I was looking forward to start feeling better and be able to eat more, but I'm still barely eating and still retching often (usually in the mornings and evenings). I'm not quite vomiting like I was during chemo but the retching is still here first thing when I wake up (I can't eat breakfast until late), and on the car ride home from work at 5pm. Is this normal? Am I just too impatient?

How long until the nausea shakes out of your system?

Thank you all in advance!

Have you spoken to your doc about the nausea? There are many good meds to prevent nausea such as compazine or Zofran. I never had a moment of nausea during chemo. I would say hat what you are experiencing is not normal and your doc should address it.

Yes I take Zofran but am still experiencing the nausea. I went in for blood work today and mentioned it and the nurse said the chemo nausea can linger after chemo. I was VERY sick during chemo (throwing up three times a day), perhaps I'm sensitive to it still? I am still losing weight, too but only a few pounds a week.
