Last Friday I had a surgical biopsy removing mass around 3.8 cm * 1.5 cm. They had to remove extra tissue as the "clip" could not be located. I have steri strips on and my incision site appears normal. However, there is swelling and there is a hard area, but not at the incision cite just close by. Is this normal?

That swelling is most likely a seroma forming at your sentinel node biopsy site. Annoying but harmless. Par for the course.

I just had my port removed, and the port doctor said even the port site will fill in with a seroma, which then gets absorbed and may leave behind little hard pea lumps, to not freak out and think it is a recurrence. Wish somebody had told me that about my lumpectomy area! I have hard spots too around my lumpectomy, but I have had mammogram, ultrasound and MRI and they have come back as nothing. Plus some hardened tissue where the clips were put in. I didn't know I was getting clips, but the surgeon said they use them on the end of cutblood vessels. So now my body has made little hard areas around them to wall them off.
