Post gamma knife changes

I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in February of this year. I immediately had surgery to remove one brain tumor; however, there was another inoperable tumor as well as four additional lesions in my brain. Following surgery, I underwent a gamma knife treatment in March. Since then, I've noticed changes in my skull. I can feel lumps & bumps & indentions that were not there before. Has anyone else had a similar experience after gamma knife radiation? I have an MRI scheduled on June 30, but I'm getting really nervous about these changes

    Tchrsammy - I am glad you have an MRI scheduled. Nothing but the scan is going to answer your question, in the end. Until then the scanxiety will be hard. We've all been through this. The Brain Mets Thread is where the folks who have been through this with brain mets specifically hang out.

    Tchrsammy, I had a craniotomy followed by GammaKnife in March 2015. There's definitely been some changes to my scull. I can feel where my plates are from the surgery and there's an indentation as well. My scans have all been clear, but I'm glad you have one scheduled too - it's the best way to stop worrying and wondering. Come visit the Brain Mets thread.     I don't know if I can help, but I've had three Gamma Knife surgeries and at least 30 altogether brain tumors mets zapped. I also have a lot of skull tumors. Last week, I was two years since my oncologist made the stage iv or metastases (breast, liver, lungs, lymph nodes, Hylar, spine, skull and bone...oh also breast). I wasn't given a lot of time and here I am independent and doing well.

    I have a few lumps due to skull tumors but lately they don't seem so bad. I have a brain MRI this month and hope they find nothing!

    The good news is you can't see liver mets or lymph nodes on recent scans and the lung mets are much smaller.

    It's been a challenging two years, but in spite of it all, I'm doing well. I did refuse whole brain radiation and I'm so glad! Gamma Knife is the way to go.
