Hi, I had surgery lumpectomy for DCIS on Monday (20th June). I waited six weeks after diagnosis before I got in for surgery, which did cause me some stress and anxiety, I have been off work since 5th May almost 7 weeks now.

Even though it is only the third day, I feel OK in myself, just a little discomfort in the breast which has eased with paracetamol and ibuprofen.

I was told by the nurses on the ward that I could drive after a week, which would be good as I have a few appointments next week, wound check, occupational health assessment etc.

So now I am waiting for the results which should take about two and a half weeks, this will tell me if the margins are clear or not and whether I will need further surgery or even radiotherapy. I am hoping that if things are OK, that the margins are clear, I can go back to work. If I need radiotherapy, then I will have to take a bit more time off. The next two weeks will be hard, but I will try to stay positive.
