Groovywilma, super tired I can handle. I am always nervous before a new treatment. As for working, I have no choice as I have good insurance and need to keep it. I am very lucky to work where they give me no problem with missing work. I have run out of my paid leave but they are still backing me up. Not many places would do that.

Will say goodnight and my God bless all

I finished my first cycle of Gemzar last week. I did three treatments and am on my off week right now. It was not bad, except the fatigue the 3rd and 4th days. However I noticed I am shedding quite a bit of hair. I wonder if I'm one who will lose my hair on Gemzar, or if it's just thinning? I didn't mentally prepare for the hair loss!!!

Woodburn: have you started? I hope it's going well for you!

it's my 3rd day out from 1st infusion. Nausea under control, really tired, temperature, but feel pretty good, otherwise. I'm on the two weeks on, 1 week off and Zometa once a month. This is not especially fun, but I can do it. Hope the few of you on this are doing well

    Hi Gina7,

Are they giving your pre-meds with your Gemzar? Let me know how things go and we can compare notes! Best of luck to you!

they gave me steroids and Ativan before Gemzar on Thursday. Felt pretty bad on Sat afternoon, totally whacked with a fever. Feel better this morning, but not best. It must be the day 3 & 4 doldrums you mentioned, groovywilma. Also, acid indigestion, I'll ask onco if I can do prilosac .Keeping nausea at bay with Ativan. Hair not thinning yet, but we'll see. Thanks for sharing your experiences, it's so much easier when you're not surprised.....

bkglenn54: Here are some other posts for Gemzar. As for me, at this point I have been anemic on Gemzar so the doctor wants me to start injecting Procrit. I'm still doing labs and learning more about that. If anyone has any info about injecting themselves with Procrit, let me know!

Gina7 and Woodburns: How've you guys been doing on Gemzar so far?

Wishing everyone the best results with their treatment!

start my third cycle next week, two on, one off. Everything easier this cycle. Too soon to tell, but the skin mets to my torso are visible and appear to be the same. Maybe it takes more than two cycles to reach the skin. Blood work barely ok. (Thanks for asking, g'wilma

Hi guys! I had my first infusion on Tuesday. I'm two on one off. So far so good. I really don't feel bad at all. I'm a little red but I think that's from the steroids. Thanks Groovy Wilma for bumping this up for me.

How are you guys doing on Gemzar? I finished 3 cycles and I have a scan next week. I really hope this is working because it's pretty manageable for me so far. I get mine with zofran and decadron. I'm doing zometa quarterly after doing it monthly for over four years. I did the self injection for Procrit this week so hopefully that will take care of the anemia.

    Happy summer solstice!!! Enjoy it!

I also finished my 3rd cycle (but I am doing 3 weeks on, 1 week off). I had a pet scan this week and got good news that Gemzar is working!!! I'm so happy and relieved! I feel like the fatigue is cumulative but I'm just glad it's working. My hair is still shedding but seems like it's slowed down. I'll find out next week how the anemia is responding to the procrit. Overall I feel like Gemzar is pretty manageable.

    Gina thanks for the update!

    Good luck everyone!
