Scalp pain

I have searched but can't find anything about this specific problem. I started losing my hair 14 days after my first TCH treatment so I had my head shaved. I actually still have fuzz that is growing and other parts of the scalp are bald. I wear a wig for work. I take the wig off as soon as I get home and usually wear a hat on the weekend. I have one of those baseball caps with hair I wear sometimes, too. That's actually really cute by the way but gets very hot. Anyway, when I first shaved my head, I noticed a few pimple-like bumps. I read up and it may be pimples or mild folliculitis, I don't know. Anyway, per my MO, I used Dial antibacterial shampoo alternating with a mild baby shampoo. Most of the bumps scabbed up and went away. Fast forward to one week past second TCH, and I have developed many more bumps and my scalp just hurts, mostly in the front and along the back hairline. It is really hot here so maybe I'm sweating under my wig? My wig lady, who specializes in women who lose hair due to medical reasons, told me I didn't need to wear a cap or liner. This really hurts, though.

Any recommendations? Is there something I can put on the scalp? I do have to wear the wig for my work so going without it is not an option.

    Welcome Jenny,

My wig lady told me that chemo baldness makes the scalp very sensitive, so I would HAVE to wear a liner! Especially around the edges where the wig tries to grab the scalp. I was also told to get a buzz cut rather than a shave, as this made it less likely for new hair to get turned around and grow inwards.

I'm not sure where you stand on those ideas, but I'm sure some more knowledgeable ladies will be along shortly to offer more ideas.

    Good luck,

    Sue

    Hi, Sue,

I definitely got a buzz cut, my head isn't shaved. My scalp really hurts so I may have to try the liner. It's just so hot here I don't know if that will make the breakouts worse but it may help with the pain.

    Thanks for your insight,

    Jennifer
