PET Scan results- ugh

Soooo, after being diagnosed and having an MRI, I also went in for a PET scan yesterday. Got a call about it from breast surgeon tonight. Good news- nothing lit up in bones, brains, lungs or liver. But 3 spots did - back of my throat, mass in right kidney and cyst on left ovary. She doesn't think any are related to bc but indicated my oncologist would discuss further. Hoping these are all nothing- was leaning towards removal of ovaries anyway since my cancer is ER+ and this could lower risk of recurrence.

Anyone have similar oddities pop up on PET scans?

    Pepper,

PET scans can show all sorts of things. I had a false positive myself (left femural neck). That's why some doctors don't order them unless considered necessary. If your oncologist really thinks that these areas are possible mets, he/she would order a biopsy to make sure. Otherwise, he/she will just keep an eye on them.

    Hope those areas are nothing!
