Repurposing drugs for use in cancer treatment

this article, titled The Cancer Drugs in Your Bathroom Cabinet discusses the research - and the obstacles to research and clinical trials in the use of various over the counter and prescription drugs in cancer treatment. There are links to the ReDo project, an international collaboration to Repurpose Drugs for Oncology. Substitution for existing chemo regimens isn't being advocated - its more about supplementation to make chemo work better, to reduce inflammation etc. to cut off blood supply to the tumor etc. and to prevent cancer.

I'm not much for government involvement in cancer research (or much of anything these days). However, these patent expired drugs that the pharmaceutical companies are no longer interested in much less running expensive phase testing would be great candidates for a government grant.
Wife NED so far but tamoxifen is giving her insomneia.
