edited June 2016 in Waiting for Test Results

I'm just needing a place to let out my stress and I came across this board so hopefully it's ok that I join.

I am BRCA2 positive and have had yearly mammos for 7 years now. Had my Mammo in January and everything can back fine. I had done self breast exams and found a couple odd spots in my left breast. May came and the spots hadn't changed so my dr decided to get me in for my yearly MRI early.

The cancer center I get them done andcalled me the next day and told me there was a small suspicious mass on my right breas that wasn't on my last MRI that they wanted biopsy. They got me in the next day and looked at it by ultrasound. They found that the mass has an arm and another mass attached to it in total about 2.3 cm. they decided to just biopsy the main mass and they put the marker in. They said it was definitely suspicious and that I would have the results Friday or monday. Friday no call and when I called the number they left me I couldn't Get ahold of anyone. Now I have to wait through the weekend and I'm a nervous wreck waiting for results.

I am waiting for my biopsy results as well except mine won't be in until Tuesday or Wednesday. The waiting is horrible!

Waiting for answers is the worst, especially over a weekend or holiday. There's not a lot you can do about the waiting, but you can try some distraction. I have had many health crises over the years and what works for me, works every time.

Food Channel and HGTV. Not even kidding. When my mind is awhirl and my anxiety is through the roof, I can really zone out on some cake decorating, home renovation, and "gastrique", whatever that is. No plot to follow, you know from the outset that everything is going to end well. Pop some popcorn, toss some nuts into the bowl, and watch a House Hunters marathon. Now, I know someone will come along and say "exercise" or "yoga" or some other better way of distracting your mind, and maybe those things will work for you, too. Not for me. I don't usually watch a lot of TV, except when I'm anxious, and then it works like a charm.

I wish you life this weekend. Try to do what you can to distract yourself while you're waiting. If it gets to be too much for you, call your doctor on Monday and ask for some medication to help you through this. Many of us find it really helps.

I agree with mustlovepoodles - I had to wait for my biopsy results over a weekend (back in February) and I thought I was going to lose my mind, initially; I spent that weekend binge watching an entire season of Grace & Frankie on Netflix, took naps, etc., anything to pass the time. The waiting is the absolute worst part of this entire process. Once you get going with all of your appointments, your treatment, etc., you'll start to feel in control. You'll find loads of great support on the various board here - take advantage of this great circle of support. Hang in there!!

    I agree....stay busy!

When I was first diagnosed, I had what was believed to be a Fibroadenoma removed only to find out it was malignant. I left work, went to see my surgeon to get this news and schedule my lumpectomy, then went BACK to work that afternoon. Everyone thought I was crazy, but I didn't want to go home and just sit and think about it.

My lumpectomy was on 12/22 that year, so I got to wait through Christmas and New Year to find out if my nodes were negative or positive, what stage I was, and what my treatment would be. My husband and I must have played hundreds of games of Monopoly and cards over those two weeks just to keep our minds occupied.

Hoping for good results for you
