Taxotere & Cytoxan (1 every 3 weeks x 4)
Just curious...does anyone know what the dosages are for Taxotere and Cytoxan when done once every three weeks (four times). Thanks!

I know when I was given Taxotere every 3 wks that is was dose dense. Dosage is individual, a lot to do with your weight too.

Hi ARTEXASQT:
The NCCN guidelines for treatment of breast cancer (Version 2.2016) lists the following example of one regimen for adjuvant TC for HER2-negative early breast cancer:
TC chemotherapy:
• Docetaxel 75 mg/m2 IV day 1
• Cyclophosphamide 600 mg/m2 IV day 1Cycled every 21 days for 4 cycles. (All cycles are with myeloid growth factor support)
As noted by Artista, the actual amount of drug infused varies from person to person, because the dosage is adjusted for person-size as it were by the mg-per-meter-squared (mg/m2) dosing of each agent.
Because of the possibility that regimens may differ (e.g., other than 75 / 600), in order to determine exactly what drug regimen you are receiving, be sure to ask your MO or infusion center.

Thanks so much for the info BarredOwl...love to read your posts! You are truly a wealth of information! I was just curious because I DID ask at my last infusion and they said I'm getting 140 mg of Taxotere and 1,200 mg of Cytoxan. Which, according to everything I could find, seemed awfully high. I'm a "big" girl, but dang...almost double?

Also...I chose not to get a port since I am only having four treatments. I have noticed some pretty noticeable darkening of the veins in that arm. I'm assuming this will go away with time?

Hi ARTEXASQT:
Here is "Moose & Doc" on several different formulas for calculating Body Surface Area:
http://halls.md/formula-body-surface-area-bsa/
They also provide a calculator for information only, so you can check:
http://halls.md/body-surface-area/bsa.htm
Enter weight in pounds and height in feet (') and inches ('") and choose a method (e.g., Mostellor, Dubois), click calculate, and then scroll down to select your age range, sex, and lastly type in the dose (e.g., 75) and click calculate dose
I tried it for 105 lbs, 5 ' 2" (62 inches), using the Mosteller formula which yields a result of 1.44 m2 for me. The m2 value would be bigger for a bigger person, so two-fold does not seem so surprising.
Note that in some cases, dose adjustments may be made for various reasons, but hope that gives a ballpark.

..I also had the same chemo and didn't have a port....
Sometimes they used my hand and sometimes my arm and Yes it did turned darker.
My last chemo was February 1 of this year...I have no darkness left.
I'm not sure of the dosage but they go by your weight.
Good Luck if your nails start getting different that will also correct itself...

ARTEXASQT I just say today during my second treatment that my Taxotere was 160mg. I am 5'6" and weigh 173. I didn't catch what the Cytoxan dose was..
I also do not have a port and my veins are doing well. The 3 weeks in between seem to really help, although they did choose to use a different vein today to "mix it up" lol.
I'm really glad you started a post for TC x 4... It seems like most of the women on here are on AC-T although maybe it just appears that way, or maybe they just have more side effects since it's a harsher regime?? Who knows, but I am grateful!!

Thank you all so much for your input. Had number 3 last Friday...woohoo! Only one more to go! My Neulasta injector shifted or something, so not sure if I got any or not on Saturday. And, my son had a baseball tournament all weekend so I was outside a lot. I noticed yesterday that I have a tick bite on my arm. Hopefully nothing comes of it. But my oncologist is going to check my bloodwork again Wednesday to make sure my counts are not bottoming out and that there's not any infection from the bite or being around all those grubby little ball players all weekend! LOL Funny how I don't usually bat an eye at silly little things like tick and mosquito bites, but now I have to be a little concerned. Oh well...summer in the south!!
