Wait between core and excisional biopsies
Just trying to find out what is normal. Had first biopsy 4/26, second 5/3, both LCIS. Got a giant hematoma from the second biopsy, so the BS wants to wait before scheduling surgery. I see her again on 6/27, so it is likely that the earliest I would have surgery would be mid-July, since her wait time is 2 weeks to a month. I feel like this is a long time. Wanted to find out what others' experiences have been. I know it's only a 20% chance in each area of invasive but of course, I really, really want to know!

I had my screening mammogram on the first of November, call back mammogram, didn't get me in for core until February, MRI and excisional in late April. It should be fine.I always knew if they saw anything alarming they would have fast-tracked me.

I saw my surgeon 5/2 for a lump in my right breast and he got me in for a mammogram and U/S the same day. Had a fine needle aspiration of lump In my right breast and a core needle biopsy of suspicious calcifications in my left breast (surprise) on 5/19. I got the results on 5/27 - benign cyst on right, Flat Epithelial Atypia (FEA) and Focal Atypical Ductal Hyperplasia (ADH) in the left breast. Pathologist and Radiologist recommended excisional biopsy, which is scheduled for 6/15.
My surgeon was willing to do my biopsy this week but I'm going on vacation next week so we delayed it until 6/15. I think my process was expedited because I bypassed everyone and went straight to the surgeon who is familiar with my BC history

Melissa, so it was only 2-3 months between core and excisional for you, right? That's the period of time I'm concerned with. I'm worried she'll want to put me off again for another month when I see her on the 27th, and just wondering how likely that might be. If she does that, it'll be more than 3-1/2 months (at the earliest) between the two biopsies for me.

I had annual mammo on April 25, call next day that I had microcalcifications. More pictures the next day - indeterminate. Had Stereotactic biopsy April 29. Results of atypical cells May 3 with suggestion to see surgeon. Saw surgeon May 9 and scheduled excisional biopsy June 3 so a little over a month between mammo and actual excisional surgery.

I had mammo, ultrasound, and core needle biopsy on 5/31. Results back on 6/1 = Invasive Lobular Ca. Met with Md on 6/6. Stage 2 Grade 1 Est/Pro +
HER2 equivocal and sent for further testing (FISH). MRI today, results tomorrow. Expedited results for HER2 pending. Meet with MD on 6/13 to plan surgery and treatment. So just 2 weeks total, I am thankful.

I had a biopsy 3/10 and <first> surgery 3/23. I'm not sure where you live but I get a sense that in smaller communities things just go more quickly. (Got the biopsy results the day after the biopsy.)
