yes, indeed!! Such a nice group of beautiful Ladies lnside and out!!! Sure wish I could join you all in San Antonio! One of these days!! We are not sure where we are headed in the future! Maybe leaving California one day! One son and family are in Idaho and my other son and family could get transferred!!

Since going off aromasin, it has been easier to lose some weight!! My appetite has diminished somewhat!! WeightWatchers is saying that exercise only maintains weight! Really? Exercise burns calories, right? What is your opinion all??

Sooooooooooooooo looking forward to San Antonio; thanks for the memory pic hbcheryl. Nice pic of your walking group ruthbru and good luck with the kitchen makeover. Redecorating always fun though the stress of getting through the mess not as much.

No, The Villages does not 'reward' me and I think many of the sales are from people referring their friends. My realtor is great though and thanks me for making his work easier. My friend sent us with him to pick out her house and based on our collaboration with him she purchased the house but has not yet seen it and probably won't until after she closes. It's a great place to retire as there is so much to do, much more than most other places. It's probably not for everyone but works for me (and mysunshine!).

Friday tried to ride with the bike club but they are way better than I so I will have to work up to it. They were doing a 30 mile trip, the return part mostly uphill. Did a few miles with them then waved so long and returned to base!

Saturday went to luncheon for scholarship recipients then hung out at a winery so no exercise.

Sunday after church went over and exercised in the pool then did 5 miles with Leslie Sansone in mysunshine's class.

Feeling like a slug today. May do line dance class but not really feeling it so we'll see. Thinking about it, am going try go out and ride bike before Colin hits!

    Later sculpted friends.

Well, exercise turns the fat into muscle, so you look thinner no matter what the scale says. Do you have any idea where you would want to move to, Kindergarten. North Dakota on the list?

I did an hour of spot toning this morning & will go to Zumba and yoga tonight. Tomorrow we take off for a few days in the Black Hills of South Dakota. We will no doubt do a lot of 'tourist walking', but lots of 'tourist eating' too. I will be in a car for 9+ hours tomorrow and am not looking forward to that part of the vacation!

Kindergarten, exercise 3-4 days to maintain, 5+ to lose but it also must be combined with healthy eating. Neither one alone will work long term. Cutting carbs ('white' foods) and sugars helps lots. I've lost and kept off 43 lbs in a little over 2 years so it works.

Ruth, luv the local causes. I am photographing the 2-day 30 mile walk here in October. I did just the 10 mile Sunday walk last year. Dh will be my wingman carrying my equipment as we chase the walkers around the city.

Kindergarten. . .when you add muscle through exercise you raise your metabolism which helps you loose weight.

You know you're addicted to your Fitbit when you realize halfway through the day that you're not wearing it and think you've lost it. Mind you I was still wearing my Surge, just left the zip at home.

At the gym feeding both of my Fitbits.

I hope to go on this trip one year but I'm not sure this will be my year. We just spent a lot on this last vacation. I'm not so great at planning ahead very far. But like I said, one year I'd love to make it. I'm so sure you have a ball.

I do not feel that exercise helps me lose weight. In fact after my son was born I exercised heavily for a year and I only lost three pounds. I have trouble controlling my appetite when I exercise. So for me exercise helps maintain but like Patoo said I have to cut the sugar, cut the grains, just cut the carbs low. period.

I'm reporting in for yesterday and today. Yesterday I mowed 50 minutes and rode my bike 30 and weeded and dead headed irises a bit. This eveningI walked 30 minutes.

Big thunderstorm this afternoon. This evening it like rain again, but ventured out for a walk anyways, it rained a bit, but not enough to get wet...only walked 1/2 hour or so (just under 2 miles) and wanted to walk loner but it was getting dark..days like this evening I just want to be outside, it was nice temperature....

Only one home today...DH left the house at 4:30 am for a 6 am flight..he has his sales meeting back east...DD #2 was in NY for the week-end...her flight gets in around 11....

Took Mom to her pcp this morning. I think its the last time I can take her in the car....She is so unsure of herself getting in and out of the car, it took 2 of us to get her out at the doctors office...fortunately when I got back to her place, she trusted me enough to get her out by myself. I told her next appt (3 months) that she needs to take access-a-ride and I would meet her there. That would allow her to take her mobility scooter....talked to the doctor about an electric wheelchair, then to the OT...she will discuss it with mom tomorrow. OT agrees it would be easier for Mom to get on/off of it, but she worries about Mom learning how to operate it as it would be different than the scooter. Mom's PCP annoyed me as he tells he she is sharp as a tack...I know he is trying to make her feel good, but both DH and I are worried about her functioning....Yes, she is still fairly intact cognitively but she is struggling...For example yesterday Mom asked what time to be ready today and then she calls me this morning to ask what time she should be ready. When I mentioned it Mom says she was just double checking. I don't want to put Mom down, but I want the pcp to understand all the concerns. PCP brought up palliative care when I said Mom didn't want to go to doctors anymore if they couldn't help her. He explained to her that she had other issues besides the neurological condition (called PSP) and he then said he thought it was too soon for Palliative Care. I agree for now. I'm not sure Mom heard any of the discussion about palliative care. Thanks for listening.

I need to get my act together and figure out my accommodations for my trip as its just 4 weeks away!!

    Sweet dreams....

Mary that poison ivy sounds really nasty, hope you are doing better. Kathy I'll hear Idaho calling. My thoughts on front loaders are not pretty, I had one in the 70s in Australia and never ever again, having had to open that door cause it's broken down and of course full of water was awful and my friend bought one a few years ago and I was helping her out after she had surgery and it broke down and once again full of water. Karen I'm sorry you're having to go through this with your Mom sending you a big (((HUG))). Cscottie isn't it dreadful when you forget the Fitbit it's like the day doesn't count. TH we'll keep our fingers crossed that you get to join the SA trip. Patoo hope you don't get too much rain.

    Tonight did Zumba.

Yesterday I forgot to turn the Fitbit on in the morning and then the battery ran out in the evening in the middle of Body Jam. I still had a deficit of 500 to make it to 10000 which I made up by moving my arms up and down. All good as I get to get my lymph moving.

Ah Karen, I am so sorry for all you are going through with your mom. Definitely do access-a-ride and meet her at her appointments. I finally did that with my dad and wish I would have done it sooner. I developed a hernia, I think from lifting 200 lbs of dead weight in and out of cars, chairs etc.

Patoo, I hope you are okay with all that rain.

Argh, we leave in an hour & I'm still not totally packed

Had lots of rain and wind knocked all the patio plants over on their sides. Nothing went flying though so no damage. Sun broke out this morning so went for 11 mile bike ride. Realized my problem riding last week with the bike club was not distance but speed. Have to get up to point where I can maintain a decent speed as my rides are usually slow because my mind is wandering while I'm looking at all the homes and great landscaping.

Dermatologist appt today as I think I'm allergic to my own sweat (nice - I live in FL!!!!!) Then lead my 5-mile Leslie Sansone walking class with mysunshine tonight.

    Later friends.

Susan I think that should probably be 10 hours a week, only an elite athlete or someone on the Biggest Loser ranch could go 10 hours a day Patoo glad you are safe. Have fun in them thar black hills Ruth. Hope you got your workout in Mommy.

Tonight did Yoga class, a girl I know did a 200 hour certification so she's doing free classes to get into the rhythm of teaching and it works for me as I'm hopeless at yoga but need to do it and I don't feel intimidated with her, also met a guy at the gym who is an American Gladiatior he was very nice and is running a bootcamp so I might give that a try in a couple of weeks.

One of my "walks" today was walking around the house as it was thundering...not too much rain, but it sure sounded like the skies were going to open up...and my poor dogs were not too happy!!! But I managed to get my 15K steps...

Saw my pcp today to have her fill out the forms for my volunteer program in Israel this summer...got weighed and pleased with the scale!! That is always a nice surprise!! I scheduled my annual physical the morning after I get back at 9:00am. After I left, I wondered if I was foolish...I'm sure i'll be jet lagged and the slight chance that I miss my connection (I have a 2 hour layover)...wondering if I should make if later in the week!! I get home Monday night, by the time I get to the house it will be at least 10pm....and then on Wednesday I have an all day professional development...I get back the week before I go back for the school year.

Starting to get excited for my trip...Got the phone arranged...Now trying to figure out housing...may stay with a gf and her daughters (she is my neighbor down the street in Denver who is there for 2 months) when I first arrive and maybe another week-end or 2. She is there till the end of July..Then I need to figure out the last 10 days that I'm there....need to decide where I want to be, what to see and who I want to stay with. I'll probably spend some time in Netanya with a friend...their apt is across the street from the Mediteranean Sea.

But before I leave, need to plan out time with DD#2..she leaves in just over 2 weeks!!! I leave the week after her. Tonight she is helping out a neighbor she babysits for...the Mom's flight is delayed and Dad is out of town, so she is babysitting till 2 am or so...she went over around 11...I asked her if she wanted to just sleep there on the sofa and she said she likes sleeping in her bed...Now this is from the girl who is always travelling!! They only live 5 doors down, but she drove her car since it will be so late! Tonight is was just me for dinner..couldn't decide what to cook for 1, so I melted cheese on tortilla chips..then just a bit ago ate popcorn and M and M's cuz I was hungry. Well its almost midnight, so I should be thinking about bed soon...last night I got less than 5 hours sleep. DD#2 got home and wanted to watch the DVD sky diving. She was so happy watching it...said she wants to do it again!! gotta love her spunk!!

Yesterday I was the only one home...DH left the house at 4:30 AM DD didn't get home till close to midnight....I had been feeling badly that I'm "desserting" my husband but yesterday reminded me that I don't like being the only one here....but I will have to get used to it in the fall when DD#2 leaves for the year...DH travels for work.

    Sweet dreams

Sounds like a great trip, Karen. That will be a big transition in the fall...

Nice ruthbru. Would love to take a trip out there one day.

Bike rIde another, almost, 12 miles today, 8 of them with mysunshine (she's 4 miles RT from me). She's trying to kill me as it was about 92 degrees with high humidity when we went out 11am-1pm. Yep, we learned our lesson and will go out from now on in the evening instead (mysunshine is not an early riser!). Then we watched several walking tapes as we try and do different routines to keep our classes motivated. Kind of like Jessica Smith which is a little more advanced than Leslie Sansone.

    Night sculpted friends.

Morning is best when hot out, Patoo. No wonder you melted!!. Even hotter than the event I did last Saturday. You don't want to be the breast cancer survivor who didn't make it because of "other causes", in this case, heatstroke.

My next event is a Wine Ride and it should be cool on Sunday.

Speaking of wine, this is post professional makeup last night savoring some special edition Semillon. Really delish summer wine. No, the glass wasn't quite that big, but was having fun with the selfie feature on my smartphone. - Claire

    Looking good, Claire and Ruth.

Susan, I figured 10 hours a day had to be wrong but even 10 hours a week is hard to reach when you work for a living. I feel so good when I reach 5 hours. They do seem to raise this every year or two.

Patoo and mysunshine: better to ride in the heat than to walk in the heat. At least you get the breeze! But of course swimming would be the best alternative!

Walked 50 minutes today with hubby around the lake. I forgot to turn off my app when I got in the car, so it said we walked 6.2 miles and 1 hour. ha ha I'm not that fast of a walker.
