Navelbine and Xeloda

HI!

I have not posted on a long time, but lurk often.  My cancer as decided to be aggressive!

In the last 7 months I have changed treatment three times and been diagnosed with liver and brain (Dura) mets.

My question is does anyone have vomiting and nausea on Navelbine?  I have only had the Navelbine twice because my counts are always to low. I am suppose to have chemo once a week for three weeks and one week off.  I have been so sick about two to three days after and vomit for 2 - 3 days.  Does anyone have these side effects?  I have read it is tolerable, but I am having a terrible time.  I also take 3 pills twice  day of Xeoda (500mg).  I have not had any symptoms from this but a little nausea.  I also had a large pleural effusion that was drained and the doctor said it was almost 3 liters.  I can breathe so much better.

Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks Barbie

    Barbie,

I'm on navelbine (along with herceptin and perjeta), and was told that nausea and constipation were the main side effects for navelbine. I took the nausea prescription around the clock for a 2-3 days after the infusion without waiting for symptoms, but I haven't really taken it the last couple times, perhaps it gets better?

Blood counts did plummet and schedule was changed from weekly to 2 weeks on and 1 off. Crossing fingers blood counts rebound for both of us!
