From reading my report I don't see anything suspicious besides the nodule being solid. Can anyone see why I was listed as a birad4? This makes me so nervous. Had my biopsy yesterday. Thanks! image

yes your right thank you! I am just confused at the 4, he could have said 3 with biopsy. A new office i will be going to have 2 radiologists that look at everything and if they don't agree then it goes to a 3rd doctor. I like this idea

If I am not mistaken, insurance companies usually won't approve a biopsy if it is given a BIRAD3, so by giving it a 4, it is covered.

BIRAD3 are rarely biopsied, if they are at all. The 4s are.

There is nothing alarming in that report. It anything, it's the opposite.

It's hard not to worry. We know this. (((HUGS)))

Someone on this forum said she was going to demand a biopsy of her BIRADS-3 tumor. Multiple people told her that she could do that, but probably would be paying for that herself because insurance would refuse to cover it. So you can biopsy a BIRADS-3, but you'll incur the cost.

thanks everyone for the input! I was initially thinking this had something to do with insurance. He wanted to warrent a biopsy which I think is good. Anything solid should be biopsied but then I saw a post with someone getting a biopsy with a birad3 so I got confused. I think my he should have given me a 4 if needed but 4a, not intermediate. That's where he really threw me off and I started to freak out thinking did he see something and didn't indicate it in the report. Ugh hopefully everything is fine. I spent days with bad anxiety over this.

Not all facilities use the 4a 4b 4c breakdown. Mine does not. If your report listed BIRAD4, w/o a letter, it means they don't use the letter breakdown, either. It's just one of those differences from facility to facility.
