Hi! I've been taking letrozole for about 8 days now and I've noticed slight hands and fingers joint pain a couple of days only, but I'm with mild nauseas almost every day and had two episodes of migraine. Please, I'd like to know if your migraines or headaches have intensified in frequency and intensity with letrozole and What other sides effects are you having with this med or with any Amoramase Inhibitor med. When do strong side effects kicked out for you? Are you having or did you have any heart or bone mineral density issues with this type of meds? Thanks.

    Rosa_Arora -

Good questions. I started Letrozole 2 months ago. I had considerable pain in wrists and thumb joints after just a few days but had almost exactly the same pain prior to starting Letrozole. because I have arthritis. I had VERY mild hot flashes after a few days also. I say VERY mild because I wasn't even sure I was having a hot flash! Still, since I hadn't had any in years, just getting a little heated up (without exertion) was noticeable. For the record, the hot flashes went away. I'm still experiencing the hand/wrist pain but is it arthritis? Dunno........................

About your headaches, I noticed I'm getting headaches now from drinking wine - same quantity as I've always drunk (2 glasses, 2 times a week). I switched from red to white but still headaches. All this started when I started the AI so I can't help but think they're connected. No nausea though.

MY MO said some AI users don't experience strong SE's and some get them but not until after 6 months or so on the drug. Guess we all vary.

    Hope this helps.

    Sunny

I've been on it for nearly two years. I noticed no side effects until recently. I can't really comment about joint pain because I'm 72 and have some arthritis. I have had some seriously bad hot flashes, lasting hours which make me extremely uncomfortable. I never experienced hot flashes when I went through menopause. I am not uncomfortable enough to even consider stopping the Letrozole as it is keeping my cancer from growing. My onc suggested taking a month off, but I am afraid to even try it...hot flashes are worth keeping the cancer stable.

Thank you for sharing your experience. To up date: I've been taking Letrozole for about a year now. I have hotflashes-shivers, night sweats sometimes, insomnia just sometimes and mood swings for time to time. I don't have any joint bone/pain since the beginning. I'm glad for that. To those who are starting with this med just saying that give it a try. You might have mild side effects. Good luck!
