Side boob?

I am wondering and it is probably a silly question, but I am having a bilateral mastectomy and the Dr said he would be taking about 20 lymph nodes from the left side armpit. I have lost about 60 pounds and my breast have lost a lot as well. I have a lot of fat on my sides, side boobs as I have heard them called. Does the doctor remove this area of breast as well during a mastectomy? I will ask my surgeon when I have surgery this Thursday May 26th, but just curious before hand.

Thanks Dawn

Dawn, I hope others who know more than me will respond soon, my thoughts are that the surgeon may not remove a lot of tissue that is fatty tissue in that area, as the lymph nodes are deeper. In my own surgery, he did not remove tissue in that area except the lymph nodes. But...good question .And way to go on the weight loss! Very good! I am hoping your surgery is very successful, and I am sending you warm thoughts for an easy recovery.

Mine did not. She said it would have put too much tension on the suture line and she didn't want to risk it.
