Odd trail of events...
Hi,
I have been getting mammograms since 2005. Have dense breasts.
2005 - 2014 all done at WAR in MD - 2015 done out of state - 2016 done in new location that I recently moved to.
My problem is I am worried that prior reports were not read prior to issuing report on most recent mammo. New mammo place ordered priors (entire history from WAR) and this was my first (I think) 3D mammo gram. Report says BI-RADS 1 - negative.
When I called because new mammo place didn't send report to the BS, I realized that the comparison date should have been 2/25/15 and they stated comparison date as 5/25/15. No one seems to be able to answer my questions at the imaging center...which are...
Would the radiologist (who apparently is supposed to be excellent) have read them without comparison to priors? Which I am hearing THREE different answers.
If he did read them without priors, would he have mentioned the comparison date (and it is inaccurate)?
Were my films even received?
Am worried because of the run a round and passing the buck. It really shakes my confidence when they didn't send it to correct doc...I wrote it out three times, they noted my chart and they used sticky notes...still went to PCP. Incorrect dates on final report.
I am just worried that may miss something and now because no one can tell me whether the films were even received I am not sure if my report is accurate. I asked if the mammo wasn't read in comparison what would happen. I was told that "oh, when we receive them they will compare and reread the mammo" and I asked...so what does that mean for me? Does that mean my current negative mammo could turn to something awful and she kind of laughed and said it "usually happens the other way and we use them to mainly reduce call backs".
I just don't know what the significance is here...and I am worried. This is making me a nervous wreck...no one wanting to give me a straight answer and of course I have to go to work in an hour...sigh...
Thank you for letting me vent. Am I overreacting (I HOPE SO) and I should just chill or do I press forward? The mammo tech is supposed to "look into it" and get back to me.

Is no one able to respond?

If they saw anything even remotely suspicious on your mammogram they would have called you back in for more images if he didn't have prior films on file. So if he is saying it's all good count your blessings but do make sure they have all your records for sure.

Two ideas. One, ask for the radiologist who read the recent mammo to call you. His/her reading is the important thing, not what the office staff do or say (frustrating though they may be). Two, obtain disks with all your mammographic images and personally take them to another place for a second opinion, if you really don't trust this place. Good luck.

Perhaps you can request your entire medical records file from the new place. This would show everything they have for you, including prior mammograms and reports. When I requested all my medical records, it also showed the pathology report from the biopsy which was done at a different place. Just an idea.

Thank you for your responses. I found out the date on the report (the comparison date) was written down incorrectly by the mammo tech. I spoke with the mammo tech today that did my mammo and she said that they did receive the 2015 mammo report and it was compared. She also said the larger record of films has not yet been received and when it is they will scan / upload / something so that they have all my records on file. She also said that when they come in they will compare the 2014 year to the recent mammo. She told me I could pick up my cd as well for my records.
She said that they don't expect anything to chance (I am knocking on lots of wood here) and that if the doc saw anything even remotely suspicious he would have requested more films or US.
I have my appt with BS in MD in mid August...and she will manhandle me (I have to take Tylenol for pain an hour before exam) so I am going to try to believe what the report says. I very much appreciate all of you taking the time to reply to me.
:-)
