Got a little bit more weed whacking to do tomorrow morning.
-
Forgot to put the baking soda and baking powder in my cookies...realized after I made 2 pans, so added to the last half of the batter. Just ate one of the cookies and can't decide..not too bad, but not as good as always!!
Shabbat dinner is just DH and me...DD is going to dinner at friends for a graduation dinner for one of her girlfriends....its about 1/2 hour walk from our house so she decided to spend the night. I guess I need to get used to cooking for 2....I've done it on occasion so it just needs to become habit.....
Have a good week-end
-
Congratulations on the graduation fun, Karen.
Planb, I am a retired middle school special education teacher & I still do some subbing.
We had a great birthday party for my friend last night, she was TOTALLY surprised, which made it all the better. This morning I did a little toning and took a long walk, frequently interrupted by me stopping to take pictures of lilacs, which are in their full glory here....the air smells fabulous!
-
Karen, I also find it hard to cook for two so I usually have great leftovers to take to work for lunch.
Working my fingers to the bone this week. Had 40 hours in by 10pm Thurs and put in another 20 between Fri & Sat. Was done late this afternoon so napped then walked. Project done for now so tomorrow is a free day but we'll see what Monday brings.
Ruth, great Zumba pic. :-)
-
Good evening all. One hour of tennis this morning followed by 2 hours of bowling - what was I thinking! Was a slug rest of the day.
Sorry I haven't been on much to follow you all but retirement is a lot of work. Still have not learned to pace myself and still trying to do every activity offered. Amazing.
Night sculpted friends.

Here's a picture from my Lilac Walk today.
-
Ruth the lilacs are gorgeous. Patoo sounds like you are having fun in your retirement. Badger I hope you get to rest easy for the rest of the weekend. Karen I'd eat those cookies baking soda or not, I am a cookie-a-holic
Went to a Spin class this morning.
-
Today is fish tank maintenance and a load of laundry
-
Cheryl, you would have liked to be me on Friday. The English class next door was having an open house, so each hour kids kept bringing me cookies, AND I was in charge of cutting and making sure people got cake at the birthday party!
Today I have to get in 45 minutes of some kind of toning, and then I would really like it if I could finish off the bathroom remodel and get everything back into place. Time will tell!
-
The people in my office are great at disposing of leftover baked goods. ;-)
Looks like a beautiful day so a nice long walk is on tap for this morning. I really need the exercise as been sitting long hours this week. Will feel good to stretch my legs and I have the perfect tape in mind.
Starts out slow with the Paul Winter Consort (Icarus), Stevie Wonder (Summer Soft), and Streisand & Gibb (Guilty); picks it up with more Stevie Wonder (As, and Another Star), Spyro Gyra (Starburst), and Rufus (Once You Get Started); then cools it down with some Blues Brothers (Sweet Home Chicago and the Peter Gunn Theme).
Don't know why I typed all that in, other than I'm still on first cup of coffee and brain's on autopilot.
Have a great rest of the weekend my Sculpted Sisters! ♥
-
It's been a wonderful weekend to be outside! Yesterday DD and I walked around the art fair for 3 hours! Not fast but still counting it!😄
Today was in the garden for 3 hours.
Ruth- glad your party went well. The pictures of the lilacs are amazing! Brought some of ours in the house they smell great. My middle school assignment was my favorite! I volunteer 1x a week in an elementary school to get my kid fix in. My daughter teaches a regional emotionally impaired classroom so still get the adventure stories!
Have a great rest of Sunday everyone
-
Badger you typed that because in your head you were listening and walking. Ruth I sure would have enjoyed your Friday, glad the party went off and she had a lovely surprise. PlanB walking is walking you absolutely should count it.
This morning did Body Pump followed by Body Combat, it was tough he picked a really hard shoulder track for Pump so Combat was extremely hard. This afternoon went to visit a friend who is having back surgery next Wednesday, our little group had a nice get together we went out to lunch as she is going to be sidelined for 3 months. -
I did 45 minutes of pilates and took a nap (something I rarely do, but I was beat!). I wanted to do some tiling in the bathroom but have decided to let the bathroom grow on me for a couple weeks before I do anything else (ie I am not sure what I want to do), so I got everything put back to normal, and also sorted through the closets and have a whole backseat of the car filled with donations for the Salvation Army. It is pouring rain outside, which is good as it has been so dry here. My next assignment is to plant flowers, it shouldn't freeze again at this point!!
-
I just lost my post!!!
I'm taking a self- defense course, Krav Maga and I'm so sore on the bc side, prophy side is okay. Today was the second of 4 classes. Need to find some stretches and exercises to do. Even though I average 15K steps/day, I don't so other types of exercises or stretches...Guess I need to start!!!
Gorgeous Denver weather today. Spent the morning outside. There was a community walk for Israel that DD and I went to. My one arm got a little pink from the sun....I don't wear sunscreen as I can't stand the smell or the way it feels on.
I'm so ready for the school year to be over....this week and next!! 7 more days (I only work M-Th). Need to get my act together and plan my summer. DH asked me tonight what the earliest I would be leaving as he needs to schedule his colonoscopy...I told him do it in June..there is no one else to drive him.
-
Karen, you better experiment with sunscreens and find one you can stand as you don't want to get a burn on your 'bad' arm. It is the last week of school here so I don't imagine I will be subbing unless someone has an emergency. Today I will go through the closets one more time to weed out clothes, dump them off at the donation center and go buy flowers. Zumba and yoga tonight.
-
Ruth - beautiful picture! I can almost smell the lilacs from here. Patoo - you sound like most of my retired friends - they're the hardest to get together with because they're always so busy!
Spent the weekend clearing out underbrush and spreading bags and bags of mulch at the cabin - all in a cold pouring rain. But if we don't mulch the gardens heavily by mid-May, they get overrun by Japanese stilt grass, a really nasty invasive. DH was down for the count with a cold, so it was all on me. It was a great upper body workout as I am very sore, but it sure looked nice when I was done.
Core workout this morning.
-
Ruth, Beautiful pictures!!
Natsfan, you are a hard worker!!
Worked out at the gym this morning!!
-
I got in Pilates and gardening today. Looks to be great here a couple more days.
-
HI All! Just finished catching up with posts.
Badger: Hope your work slows down! That's a lot of work hours.
Ruth: Beautiful picture. We have lilacs in our yard. When they were in bloom I would go smell them and bring some into the house.
Like Nats, we have been getting rain every day which cut into my outside walking/jogging. On Friday I started my walk and had to stop after 1/2 mile because it started raining. Saturday I walked/ran shortly after lunch before any rain and then attended an evening wedding. Yesterday we went to a family luncheon.
Today we went to a Science Center to see "Bodies Revealed." Anybody else seen the exhibit? It was interesting but kinda weird and creepy looking inside dead people. Walked quite a bit because they also have a zoo.
Came home from the Center and mowed for 90 minutes. With all the rain the grass was really high.
-
Hi all! I am now at my daughter's for my grandson's graduation. I have grandchildren ages 1 to 18!!! So, Patoo is back doing kitty duty and having to sub for my class next Sunday! She is right, we are very busy being retired! Ha Ha!
Love your lilac picture, Ruth. It is nice to see that the snow does finally melt!
Fun to read about everyone's busy lives and healthy exercise. Congratulation to all you teachers who made it through another year. I remember those days!
Have a great week.
-
Wonderland I saw that a few years ago, I thought it was fascinating my friends and I spent hours walking through the exhibit. Ruth I spent some time this weekend going through my closet getting rid of some items, I bought 3 new pairs of workout pants recently so I had to dispose of 3 and I also found a Macy's bag with a top that I had forgotten about, win for me!!
Zumba class tonight. -
Oh, mysunshine! You don't look like a granny to an 18 year old. Wonderland, it was called Body Worlds here and was partly x-rated (cadavers in the act). Wasn't expecting that but I suppose it was an opportunity to educate DD. Still seemed disrespectful.
8 km hike/run, 6 hours of tango, Body Jam and weights since Saturday. Will go on the treadmill today, salsa tonight and some cycling tomorrow, the last in memory of Diana50.
-
2.5 mile run this morning on the golf course with the geese, a pair of mallards, and a couple of deer. There was a strange yellow fireball in the sky, and the sky was a blue color, not leaden grey. I wonder what that's all about???
DC has had rain 23 of the last 27 days, and even the non-rainy days were cool and mostly cloudy. Everyone has been cranky. But it should be sunny and warm the rest of the week - hooray!!!!
-
Ruthbru: I have been going through so many clothes, etc. It feels so amazing to get rid of things. Do you have freecycle in your area? You should look it up. You post what you have to give away and people come and pick it up. I love it,
I am quickly discovering that exercise seems to be my magic bullet. I remember the nurse telling me...if you feel like laying down and taking a nap...exercise. It will be so much better for you.
I am through 4 of 12 of my Taxol/herceptin/perjeta treatments. This week, I actually upped my exercise. When ever I am feeling crappy...I do something. Ride the bike for a hard 45 minutes, take a 3-4 mile hike. I always feel like a new woman when I am done. This week, we hiked at Redwood Regional Wilderness Area in Oakland. I felt like crap at the start of the hike so we picked a shorter one. By the end of the hike, I felt so good we added an extra mile. I so wish other people knew how much it helps.
I hope you are all having a wonderful week.
-
Yea Susan! Yes, exercise is almost always a magic bullet!
They do have online swap/give away/rummage sale sites around here but I would just like to dump all my stuff off at once and be done with it!
I did POUND this morning and will be off to Barre in a few minutes. Still working on the flowers/planters etc. Yeouch, I am sore from using all the planting muscles!
-
Wonderland. . .we've had that exhibit here for years. Dh has gone with the kids. Not me, I would be too creeped out.
Ruth beautiful lilacs.
Karen. . .congrats on your daughter's graduation and the job.
I'm still trying to find a groove for daily summer exercise. I have to fill in the non-gym/non-hiking days. This weekend I'll get lots of steps and exercise at our summer amusement /waterpark, but after that I have to hit it.
At the gym feeding the Fitbits.
Scottie

Hi all. ruthbru, beautiful lilacs. I need to join the hiking club to get to some spots like that. It's on my list of 'to dos'.
Biked to my "job" at mysunshine's house this morning then put in another few miles for a total of almost 9. Then 2 hours of line dance class this afternoon followed by my 5-mile Leslie Sansone walking class this evening. Over 15,000 steps today. Yep, I'm wiped out.
Night sculpted friends.
-
No walk this evening and I'm missing it....DD and I went to one of her best friend's high school graduation...it was long...just over 2 hours! It is the same school my oldest daughter graduated from 12 years ago. The principal is retiring so I went up to him to say congrats and he goes I know you but don't remember your name. As soon as I said it, he knew who I was. I also talked to one teacher. When I looked at the list of staff, there were only a couple who were there when my older daughter graduated!! We left at 6:30 and didn't home till 9:30....too late to walk outside...maybe I walk around the house!!! Counting the days till summer vacation starts for me!!
-
Scottie I laughed because you said 'Fitbits' cause I do the same, I wear the One for work then switch to HR for the gym put it by my phone, sync it up and away I go.
Patoo you don't have time to join a hiking club you're too busy being retired.
Susan so glad the exercise is your 'magic bullet'.
Ruth hope you get some nice weather to help your flowers.
Karen you wouldn't be the first one to walk around the house to get your steps for the day in.
Tonight did Grit Strength and CX Works - my resting HR is 72 in Grit tonight it was up to 140 I love this class, it pushes me to my absolute limit. -
Got laundry to do today. Going to get it done and out on the line soon as its going to be very warm today
