Can we have a forum for "older" people with bc?

Oh I remember Anne! When I worked as a LD operator for the phone company (when they had them) I worked with gals that were 40...I thought MAN are they old! I was just 21... ! Little did I know! But thank God for all of my years!

DD just brought me a new Android smart-phone! I didn't think would ever want one! I have a Spring phone, only $15 a month, but it is HARD to use, much less HEAR anything on it... My NEW phone is a charmer! Still learning... she and my Grand-sons are showing me how.... All you have to do is "talk" into it, and it shows you what you say, and you hit "send" it to someone, and it DOES! No more texting... Ha!

I asked it what the weather was in Denver, and "she" told me! Plus, showed the weather for the week! Now if I can just think I am smarter than this "smart" phone....

Forgot to say that the surgery report after the BMX showed they removed 10 pounds of boobs.

Horrid -- my one word description for the rain that is here today. It is only half ours, as the rest is leaking from Colorado. I sure hope your rain quits Chevy and you can all have tons of fun without it. Hopefully lots of warm sunshine ( no snow please ) to enjoy. I too am JUST waiting for our rain dissipating as well. It is going to maybe go through today ( had it all last night too ) and them maybe a couple of dry days. Then maybe our better temps will return. Too cool to suit me right now. It really feels more like the April showers that didn't quite make it here.

The Casa Bonita restaurant sounds so interesting and so much fun -- even for older people. I'm bad -- I love Mexican food, the real thing but much of the Americanized versions too. Taco Bell has a Quesalupa ( not sure of the spelling ) on their menu which is new and I've fallen in love. Mainly for the Pepper-Jack Cheese they use in it. I keep sliced Pepper-Jack here to put on crackers. Sometimes with a thin slice of summer sausage or pepperoni with a couple of drops of mustard -- yes, I am bad, but on a heavy-duty work day it is such a good fill-in for me.

Anyway, I just hope the good times keep rolling Chevy. Enjoy --- there is nothing like family for the really GOOD times and making memories.

Well, I think I might have bit off more than I caN chew. Decided to do some necessary updates around the house. Two years ago, we repainted and redecorated the inside, now it is time to update some stuff, starting with getting my driveway and front and back patios professionally cleaned and sealed. They are not that old, but the guy who put them in didn't seal them and they look awful. They were suppose to be here yesterday- no show, no call explaining why they didn't show up. Most frustrating is that I have called them seven times since three o'clock yesterday and still have no idea why they didn't come or when they are. Then an electrician came today to replace the garage door opener ( we still had the original from when we moved in in 1978). Turns out they couldn't do that because the tracks and all have to be changed. They contacted someone who is supposed to be here between 1:00-3:30. Another $200, although the guy that was here reduced his bill.

They were also supposed to add a light kit to the ceiling fan in my bedroom- couldn't do that, cause the fan had a short in it that blew the light when they tried. I had to go to Home Depot to buy a new fan while they worked in the garage. $198. I had them leave the old one here. If I don't like the new one, I'll try to get that one fixed. A friend who is a part time plumber, full time EMT and firefighter was supposed to come to figure out why the main toilet clogs at least once every two days, and look at our fridge which leaks all over our kitchen floor every other day. He worked last night as EMT so he got no sleep. He is coming tomorrow, but said we'd have to call an appliance guy for the freezer since it is not working at all - I have to throw everything in it out. Luckily, it's just frozen veggies, ice cream, etc. All the meat is in the garage freezer.

We removed the above ground pool we had for many years, so that area needs to be resodded. I think we got a pretty good price on it, but the guy, who cut our yard for many years says he wants to do the sprinklers first, but doesn't want to do them until the driveway and patios are done.once the sprinklers are done, they will resod the whole yard.

And finally found a general handyman to install a window a/c in the guest room. For some reason, our central A/C doesn't cool that room enough. Problem with that is he can't come until late next week at the earliest.

Sandra- I also had BMX with no reconstruction. One of my daughters is well- endowed, the other two have nothing. When we were shopping for dresses for the wedding, my middle daughter tried on a dress, but said she needed bigger boobs for to he dress to look right. We actually sent it to the well-endowed one, and she was thrilled she didn't have to go shopping. Anyway, when Tracy said she needed bigger boobs, I said I have an extra pair- do you want to borrow them?

Hi to all and thanks for the mention of me in your post Jackie. I have been having a lot of recovery time going on, many dr visits that require a 2.5 hr drive each time one way, a brother in laws wedding (I thank God it was short and sweet-I still took a day to regain my strength), and then we lost a beloved family member my DH's sisters husband of 58 years to lung cancer that had gone to his bones. He suffered terribly. His family returned him to his childhood hometown here for the funeral and burial. This is a huge family and he was loved so dearly. I am at week 4 going into week 5 of recovery. The iron bra has been tough to deal with but is better today. But now I am having sharp zinging pains at times from I think my sentinel node surgical sight towards my back. If it wasn't for that one area I'd be very pleased with today's progress.

Monday I see my PS for final visit until time for exchange (unless problems) and next day I will see my new oncologist closer to home. Actually she will be my first onc dr as I haven't seen one yet. My BS insisted I choose one to be referred to ASAP so I was happy to get accepted by the one with the best reputation I could find. Also have a best friend that has been helped tremendously by her.

I guess I'll post again after I find out more but I have been reading everyone's posts and keeping up with things here as much as I could between naps when my mind wasn't too groggy I have enjoyed the beautiful pictures I've seen. You guys should see a picture of what my DH calls his garden. It's 2 acres of beauty already. He supplies half our town with produce I think. I'll try to get a pic and post it soon. Well good wishes to you all and I'd better get to sleep. Just know I haven't forgotten any of you.

Chevy....what beautiful scenery. My son lived in Denver for a few years and loved it out there. I loved the majestic views in the area but knew the climate was too "snowy" for my thin blood! :-) Hey, the Illiniois winters are even too much for this pansy!

The sun is already shining today so I am going to play just 9 holes of golf this afternoon and am headed out to the yard to do some weed-whipping as soon as I get caught up on these threads. I started back into my walking routine today. I used to walk 3 miles a day faithfully....at least 5 days a week.....but I had a walking partner then and I was committed to meet her and we chatted as we walked and the time just flew by. Then I lost my walking partner and my motivation. I am just going to force myself to get out there early in the mornings by myself. I made it 2 miles today and will gradually increase the distance with time. I must admit that I felt energized when I got home.

Please all my good wishes for great healing for you S. Sally and as well healing heart energies for you and your family on the loss of your male family member. These days one "life" event ( negative or positive ) can be hard to incur and keep up with and I can see you are dealing with a lot right now. Prayers and love, and healing to all.

Busy day for me today, but then actually, on my present schedule ( actually not a hard one ) sometimes it feels difficult. As I go to work at the start of the afternoon for about three hours, I can't always start much in the a.m. Later, after work, a trip to the store or Walmart and some catch-up at my house, and then have to start thinking of supper --- well, I find myself cramming in small things while larger jobs go begging. It will all even out, but certainly feels so very messy right now.

Rita --- I have ( in the past ) been such a walker. I think there is not much else that is such a great all-over exercise for people. You do get energized with it. I think a large part of that is just expanding our world by walking into the whole world rather than encapsulating ourselves in some of the smaller areas that we do. Like a workplace cubicle or even our home. I sure need to get this part of life re-structured for myself as well. Sigh !!!! I don't mind the present schedule, but it is not conductive either to a nice long walk. Give me patience Lord, but hurry, eh !!!

Chevy, God gave you the snow we didn't get this year! Three dustings was all! Now we need rain.

Hope there wasn't too much dust flying around. Sometimes it doesn't take very long to remove history, huh !!!! I was glad when our old homestead was torn down. I wasn't really sad as it had been a rental for so many years by the time I came back home. I left home at 18 and shortly thereafter Mom and Dad went to California. Our old house was sold for $1,500.00 to a real estate company that used it for a rental. I came back here when I was 52 yrs. old and the house was empty then and stayed that way for five or 6 yrs. when it was finally removed.

It is going to be noisy for awhile during the construction period for the new house. Too tall a house for me. I'd get rid of at least two stories --- though would settle for a walk-out basement and first floor. I figure if I get to where I can't do stairs at all --- I'll walk out the front, go around the back and go into the basement. No muss, no fuss, no stairs.

Chevy, I have no problem remembering the distant past, but don't ask me what I had for dinner two nights ago, or where I put that special paper so that I would remember exactly where it was.

Everything on the inside of the house is done, or scheduled to be done. The outside is a total disaster. The company scheduled to clean driveway and patios last Mon has yet to show up. The supervisor said they had a mechanical breakdown and wouldn't be back on the road till today, but I would definitely be their first job today. It is 11:00 and there is no sign of them. I called them 4 times before I got through, but I got to the person I originally spoke to. He was outraged at the service I've gotten and said he would make sure it is fixed, then gave me to the idiot that told me I would be first today. I think he is the dispatch manager. He gave me his usual response that he would call them and get back to me right away. I asked what "right away" means to him, because Tues it was 6 hrs before the guy called him back, and he never called me back. Aaron gave me his personal email in case this guy can't get it going. Meanwhile, all of our patio furniture is either in the back yard or garage, which means my car is not in the garage and that is not good in So Fla in May. My SIL has yet to pick up the remainder of the pool parts. The lawn guy can't do anything until everything is out of the yard, so we look like a junkyard back there. What isn't covered by furniture or pool parts is sand covering the tarp or whatever the call the layer of plastic they put down to stop the grass from poking thru the pool liner is called. The dogs are having a good time with it, but it's not getting any better- in fact with the dogs digging in it, itis just getting worse.

And my brother is coming on Wed. I was hoping to have it all done by then.
