It is on the cool side here but an otherwise beautiful Sunday. The sun is out and helping me to feel inspiration and bloom. Today will be a repeat of most of my other days lately. I spend about three hours at the Manor with my little lady, Sally. I of course, get out and feed the feral cats and I'll likely make another trip to Walmart's. Although I think to some degree I'll always feel irritation ( why couldn't we have a Costco around here, close ) since other places of business don't survive a lot of times around the Walmarts, if you are of fairly modest means, you will go there.
Having said that, I have to say -- though there are not a lot of NEW items, the new store is pretty spectacular. I've been in three or four times now and still trying to learn they layout. Also, the fact is --- there is just in general just so much more of everything. I actually think this is one of the largest Walmarts I've seen and used. The grocery part ( another challenge to learning some layout ) is very large. I will be using all of our grocery stores here since there are things in each one that appeal. Was surprised to see gas at the new Walmart at $2.01 per gallon --- and our other gas stations have not as yet, gone down all being around the $2.18 price. Needless to say --- their business has become pretty thin. I won't buy at the others when I can save 17 cents on the gallon by using Walmart because I'd probably already be there or very close ( feral cat feeding ) anyhow. This town simply is not that big.
I have been filling my 18 gal. tank when I get to half a tank. That means that by going to Walmart for my 9 gals. of gas I save $1.53. Roughly would save $3.00 on a full tank. So, I think the others will come down at some point. Of course, some time the owner, franchisee or whomever, isn't given a choice so much about that but I do think the odd car now and then will not have the make-break handled well at all.
Ok, time for me to finish up here. See you all later.

Oh I remember Anne! When I worked as a LD operator for the phone company (when they had them) I worked with gals that were 40...I thought MAN are they old! I was just 21... ! Little did I know! But thank God for all of my years!
DD just brought me a new Android smart-phone! I didn't think would ever want one! I have a Spring phone, only $15 a month, but it is HARD to use, much less HEAR anything on it... My NEW phone is a charmer! Still learning... she and my Grand-sons are showing me how.... All you have to do is "talk" into it, and it shows you what you say, and you hit "send" it to someone, and it DOES! No more texting... Ha!
I asked it what the weather was in Denver, and "she" told me! Plus, showed the weather for the week! Now if I can just think I am smarter than this "smart" phone....

It's been a nice couple of days. Ryan is still here. His girlfriend, Sarah, is with him often and usually has her little girl, Paxon, here too. Paxon is 3. I'd forgotten how darn cute they are at that age. She follows me everywhere and is delighted to "help" me, no matter what I'm doing. Yesterday I said I had to clean out the refrigerator and she said, "I LOVE cleaning the refrigerator." We've torn up old bread for the birds, made a necklace for her, played with Play Doh, colored, made cookies, and have a nice clean refrigerator. I'm exhausted!
I was also one of those overly-endowed women. Buying bras was sort of easy...no fancy bras came in my size...but there were plenty of utilitarian cheapie bras in huge sizes. I never had to try them on. I just put one cup over my head like a cap. If it fit there, it would fit one of "the girls." When I found out I had early stage breast cancer they said I could have a lumpectomy followed by radiation and meds for 5 years OR have a mastectomy. No rads. No tamoxifen. Well, what kind of choice was that? Bring on the mastectomy and while you are at it, can you get rid of the other one too? They said there was no cancer in it and even confirmed that with a pre-surgery MRI, but I insisted on a double mastectomy. Good thing. The "good" breast had a different kind, hard to see on screening tests since I have dense breasts. If I hadn't had the double mastectomy, I would have been sitting here, sure I was "ok" while the cancer spread. I've never had any buyers remorse. Good riddance. They served me well with nursing three babies but I was nearing 65 and simply didn't need them anymore, especially with the potential for them to try to kill me again. Be gone! Now bras are no issue. I haven't worn one in over a year since I recovered from my reconstruction. I have a nice pair of "Barbie Boobs" in a small C and look great in clothes without a bra. I can wear all those cute clothes that you wear without a bra. It's such a treat since I've never been able to wear those before, even as a young teen. No boobs? No problem...I have "foobs." To each, his own. I don't miss them. Also don't miss AI's & side effects.
-
Forgot to say that the surgery report after the BMX showed they removed 10 pounds of boobs.
-
Sandra! Good for you! And what a great attitude! Yes..... little girls are just the sweetest....
When we have some or our own, we are so young, and BUSY with them, and we don't realize what little blessings we have to take care of! But now that we are older, we can just marvel at the sweetness of it all...!
I remember thinking my youngest was like my own little doll! And that I was born for that purpose... to be a nice little wife, and home-maker, and have babies and live happily ever after! And that's about how it's been... Ha!
Still learning my phone... I figured out to turn it "off" when I go to bed... DD who was at the Concert, thought highly of sending me text messages and video's of all that commotion so I could enjoy it with them! Nope.... Although I found it sweet and nice, I shut it off... I see there are 4 more this morning!! I should call THEM over at her Sister's house, and wake them all up like at 5 this morning, and tell them WAKE UP!
Have to get ready to see what they all have planned for today!

When we perform an act mindfully--be it meditating, vacuuming
or playing Scrabble with a child--we nourish ourselves, as well.
Rather than scattering our concentration on a dozen things at
once, we focus. We slow down. We give ourselves time to calm
down from the inside out and the luxury of saying: Nothing is
more important right now than this moment, this deed. We
may not get as much done by day's end, but we can feel more
peaceful and satisfied with the work itself. That's a good way
to think of it: Mindfulness is quality time for the soul.

Morning gals! A couple pictures of the "kids" at the Joe Walsh concert at Red Rocks the other night... One was at the Morrison Inn having dinner (??) before the concert....

Walked around the Mills yesterday, because of this WEATHER!!! Now today we are going to Casa Bonita! I used to take the guys there all the time, when they were just little tykes! They LOVED walking around the "caves" exploring, and watching the "shows!" So going back to a memory place!
More rain today, then clearing up.... hopefully!

Horrid -- my one word description for the rain that is here today. It is only half ours, as the rest is leaking from Colorado. I sure hope your rain quits Chevy and you can all have tons of fun without it. Hopefully lots of warm sunshine ( no snow please ) to enjoy. I too am JUST waiting for our rain dissipating as well. It is going to maybe go through today ( had it all last night too ) and them maybe a couple of dry days. Then maybe our better temps will return. Too cool to suit me right now. It really feels more like the April showers that didn't quite make it here.
The Casa Bonita restaurant sounds so interesting and so much fun -- even for older people. I'm bad -- I love Mexican food, the real thing but much of the Americanized versions too. Taco Bell has a Quesalupa ( not sure of the spelling ) on their menu which is new and I've fallen in love. Mainly for the Pepper-Jack Cheese they use in it. I keep sliced Pepper-Jack here to put on crackers. Sometimes with a thin slice of summer sausage or pepperoni with a couple of drops of mustard -- yes, I am bad, but on a heavy-duty work day it is such a good fill-in for me.
Anyway, I just hope the good times keep rolling Chevy. Enjoy --- there is nothing like family for the really GOOD times and making memories.

Jackie, still raining here now, but supposed to let up later, and then have clear days for this week-end! Just can't do anything out in this weather...
And it wouldn't be so bad, but it only gets up to maybe 50! 40 right now at 9:30! But nothing we can do about it except ignore it and go have fun just being together...
Casa Bonita used to be an old Joslin's store! But they remodeled it completely, and made it into this great Mexican village like, with a pool that divers jump into, caves you can explore, besides lots of tables around the pool to watch the shows, AND into the caves... Then a gift-shop, "spooky" little think you walk through, and an arcade that we always stop into! The Sopapilla's are served with honey, and always warm. The food is "okay".... but kids don't care anyway. I really like the Taco Salad though... Can't go wrong there... Chips and Salsa are always served.
They have a little place for Puppet Shows... I think a lot of this is on week-ends when they are the busiest... But it is always a wonder how they transformed this 2 story store into this Mexican Restaurant! When you walk in, it always smells like clorox and beans.... Ha! Just a fun place to go!

Hi all,
Well, I think I might have bit off more than I caN chew. Decided to do some necessary updates around the house. Two years ago, we repainted and redecorated the inside, now it is time to update some stuff, starting with getting my driveway and front and back patios professionally cleaned and sealed. They are not that old, but the guy who put them in didn't seal them and they look awful. They were suppose to be here yesterday- no show, no call explaining why they didn't show up. Most frustrating is that I have called them seven times since three o'clock yesterday and still have no idea why they didn't come or when they are. Then an electrician came today to replace the garage door opener ( we still had the original from when we moved in in 1978). Turns out they couldn't do that because the tracks and all have to be changed. They contacted someone who is supposed to be here between 1:00-3:30. Another $200, although the guy that was here reduced his bill.
They were also supposed to add a light kit to the ceiling fan in my bedroom- couldn't do that, cause the fan had a short in it that blew the light when they tried. I had to go to Home Depot to buy a new fan while they worked in the garage. $198. I had them leave the old one here. If I don't like the new one, I'll try to get that one fixed. A friend who is a part time plumber, full time EMT and firefighter was supposed to come to figure out why the main toilet clogs at least once every two days, and look at our fridge which leaks all over our kitchen floor every other day. He worked last night as EMT so he got no sleep. He is coming tomorrow, but said we'd have to call an appliance guy for the freezer since it is not working at all - I have to throw everything in it out. Luckily, it's just frozen veggies, ice cream, etc. All the meat is in the garage freezer.
We removed the above ground pool we had for many years, so that area needs to be resodded. I think we got a pretty good price on it, but the guy, who cut our yard for many years says he wants to do the sprinklers first, but doesn't want to do them until the driveway and patios are done.once the sprinklers are done, they will resod the whole yard.
And finally found a general handyman to install a window a/c in the guest room. For some reason, our central A/C doesn't cool that room enough. Problem with that is he can't come until late next week at the earliest.
Sandra- I also had BMX with no reconstruction. One of my daughters is well- endowed, the other two have nothing. When we were shopping for dresses for the wedding, my middle daughter tried on a dress, but said she needed bigger boobs for to he dress to look right. We actually sent it to the well-endowed one, and she was thrilled she didn't have to go shopping. Anyway, when Tracy said she needed bigger boobs, I said I have an extra pair- do you want to borrow them?

Hey Chevy...Thanks for sharing the pictures of your family. They are a great looking group of "youngins!"
Anne, that's always what happens to me when I start a project. One thing leads to another and I end up spending three times what I originally budgeted for it. It sounds like things will be nice around your house when it's done, though!
Rain, rain, and more rain around here. They called off golf for this evening because it had been raining off and on all day and now it is pretty nice out there! Go figure! I have plenty of other things that I could do besides golf. I thawed out a couple of steaks and am cooking those and a handful of morel mushrooms for dinner. At least Dave will be happy that there is no golf! :-) He loves to eat!
Wow Sandra! I can't even imagine 10 pounds of boobs! I NEVER had THAT problem.
Well, I'm off to start breading the mushrooms. I hope everyone has had a good day and wish everyone another good one tomorrow!

Ok, we have the sun and I am so happy. I hope it warms a bit more and I think it will, but the important thing is just to have that ole' yellow sun saying howdy. I've missed it so I'll be doing some good catch-up today. Work today as usual which is fine with me. I've gotten used to it. Don't know what things may be like when my patient goes home. Then, I'll have that to re-incorporate into my daily activities. This schedule makes getting things done here at home a little ifier which is not a word actually, but that is ok. Life takes time -- doesn't matter much what you are doing.
Waving hi to Di, Seed Sally, Linda, and any others who don't post on a super regular basis. Just a reminder that we still know you are there.
I'll be checking in later, them. Hope you are having some sun too Chevy and enjoying mightily your family visit.

WE HAVE SUN!!!!! Neighbor going to finish scraping and painting both garages and house in a couple weeks!
-
Glad (for you) that you have your sun back, Jackie. Personally I don't mind some overcast if it means cooler.
Nice pictures, Chevy! I like the flag stones.
I went to a couple of stores today and didn't find much, just one pair of shorts that are actually long enough to be called "almost capris." I can wear them that long or roll up the legs a couple of turns. Yesterday I bought two pairs of shorts and two blouses.
Happy Wednesday.

Hi to all and thanks for the mention of me in your post Jackie. I have been having a lot of recovery time going on, many dr visits that require a 2.5 hr drive each time one way, a brother in laws wedding (I thank God it was short and sweet-I still took a day to regain my strength), and then we lost a beloved family member my DH's sisters husband of 58 years to lung cancer that had gone to his bones. He suffered terribly. His family returned him to his childhood hometown here for the funeral and burial. This is a huge family and he was loved so dearly. I am at week 4 going into week 5 of recovery. The iron bra has been tough to deal with but is better today. But now I am having sharp zinging pains at times from I think my sentinel node surgical sight towards my back. If it wasn't for that one area I'd be very pleased with today's progress.
Monday I see my PS for final visit until time for exchange (unless problems) and next day I will see my new oncologist closer to home. Actually she will be my first onc dr as I haven't seen one yet. My BS insisted I choose one to be referred to ASAP so I was happy to get accepted by the one with the best reputation I could find. Also have a best friend that has been helped tremendously by her.
I guess I'll post again after I find out more but I have been reading everyone's posts and keeping up with things here as much as I could between naps when my mind wasn't too groggy I have enjoyed the beautiful pictures I've seen. You guys should see a picture of what my DH calls his garden. It's 2 acres of beauty already. He supplies half our town with produce I think. I'll try to get a pic and post it soon. Well good wishes to you all and I'd better get to sleep. Just know I haven't forgotten any of you.

Another day in the Colorado Rockies... Had a great lunch at Echo Lake Lodge, then drove down the other side of the mountains towards Bergen Park... It SNOWED on us! Lots of snow at that altitude. We were about 13,00 feet above sea level... Left sunny Denver, and ran into rain, snow, icy roads in some spots, then back into the sun!
Staying home today... The FAM is going up to Boulder today to just walk around... But it is so fun being around all of them.

Overlooking the high country... towards timberline and Mt. Evans.

-
Sally...glad to see a post from you and get an update! Sorry about the death in your family. I'm sending good vibes for a swift and good recovery for you, gal. Hang in there!
Chevy....what beautiful scenery. My son lived in Denver for a few years and loved it out there. I loved the majestic views in the area but knew the climate was too "snowy" for my thin blood! :-) Hey, the Illiniois winters are even too much for this pansy!
The sun is already shining today so I am going to play just 9 holes of golf this afternoon and am headed out to the yard to do some weed-whipping as soon as I get caught up on these threads. I started back into my walking routine today. I used to walk 3 miles a day faithfully....at least 5 days a week.....but I had a walking partner then and I was committed to meet her and we chatted as we walked and the time just flew by. Then I lost my walking partner and my motivation. I am just going to force myself to get out there early in the mornings by myself. I made it 2 miles today and will gradually increase the distance with time. I must admit that I felt energized when I got home.
Everyone have a good day!

Good sunny morning,
Please all my good wishes for great healing for you S. Sally and as well healing heart energies for you and your family on the loss of your male family member. These days one "life" event ( negative or positive ) can be hard to incur and keep up with and I can see you are dealing with a lot right now. Prayers and love, and healing to all.
Busy day for me today, but then actually, on my present schedule ( actually not a hard one ) sometimes it feels difficult. As I go to work at the start of the afternoon for about three hours, I can't always start much in the a.m. Later, after work, a trip to the store or Walmart and some catch-up at my house, and then have to start thinking of supper --- well, I find myself cramming in small things while larger jobs go begging. It will all even out, but certainly feels so very messy right now.
Rita --- I have ( in the past ) been such a walker. I think there is not much else that is such a great all-over exercise for people. You do get energized with it. I think a large part of that is just expanding our world by walking into the whole world rather than encapsulating ourselves in some of the smaller areas that we do. Like a workplace cubicle or even our home. I sure need to get this part of life re-structured for myself as well. Sigh !!!! I don't mind the present schedule, but it is not conductive either to a nice long walk. Give me patience Lord, but hurry, eh !!!
Be back later on.
Love those pics. of the Colorado mts. and forests.

Chevy, God gave you the snow we didn't get this year! Three dustings was all! Now we need rain.
-
Just "scraped' the house across the alley from us... Going to build a big 2-3 story square flat-top house like all the other ones around here...

The house was built many years ago on a "slab"... and a cellar was dug, like all the old houses had in those days.... It's almost all gone now... Started this morning, and it's only 3:30, and most of it has been taken away!
-
Hope there wasn't too much dust flying around. Sometimes it doesn't take very long to remove history, huh !!!! I was glad when our old homestead was torn down. I wasn't really sad as it had been a rental for so many years by the time I came back home. I left home at 18 and shortly thereafter Mom and Dad went to California. Our old house was sold for $1,500.00 to a real estate company that used it for a rental. I came back here when I was 52 yrs. old and the house was empty then and stayed that way for five or 6 yrs. when it was finally removed.
It is going to be noisy for awhile during the construction period for the new house. Too tall a house for me. I'd get rid of at least two stories --- though would settle for a walk-out basement and first floor. I figure if I get to where I can't do stairs at all --- I'll walk out the front, go around the back and go into the basement. No muss, no fuss, no stairs.
Jackie
-
Yeah, we went through this when they scraped the house next door to us about 8 years ago... While they were crushing, all the "pieces" into smaller ones to load, there WAS dirt flying around, but another guy was watering it down... It reminded me of land-fill soup! That machine took all the metal, steel bits out... furnace, pipes, and even the gutters.... etc. Anything metal could not be mixed with it all.... for some reason.
Still a lot to clean up... and a HUGE tree has to be taken down... Guess that's what they call "progress"... Just glad old Mrs. Oletsky isn't around to see this happening... Her Dad was Mayor Stapleton of Denver at one time... Named Stapleton International airport after him.... until they built Denver International Airport way out North of here... I think I'm lucky to have known her, and now watching more changes coming here....
That's what's nice about growing older! You remember things from years ago! And memories are always there for the taking!

Good morning,
Cloudy here -- don't know if we will see the sun or not. There is rain coming -- when??? so I'm going to go back into mildly gloomy for a bit. Oh well, later on in the summer as we sometimes do, we may be wishing with all our heart for some rain. Sigh !!!! A little cooler today as well. Will hopefully get up to 70 so that doesn't thrill me either.
I'm glad you are wistful just a bit Sunny. When I was much younger change seemed like such a good thing. Almost a necessity in a way. Even I enlisted in the Army ( wanted more schooling that my folks couldn't really afford ) and went off to see the world. Somewhere along the way, as so often happens, I heard the same words coming out of my mouth that was coming out of the mouths of older people around me when I was young. They didn't always appreciate change nor want it. If there is any comfort I guess --- I have become the older generation I didn't totally understand when I was young and it is okay. It feels natural and highly desired.
I hope you don't have to put up with too, too much in the way o dust, too much dirt, and a world full of noise ( but you will have some ) as that site is readied for new building. Thank goodness, you still have your Oasis.

Chevy, I have no problem remembering the distant past, but don't ask me what I had for dinner two nights ago, or where I put that special paper so that I would remember exactly where it was.
Everything on the inside of the house is done, or scheduled to be done. The outside is a total disaster. The company scheduled to clean driveway and patios last Mon has yet to show up. The supervisor said they had a mechanical breakdown and wouldn't be back on the road till today, but I would definitely be their first job today. It is 11:00 and there is no sign of them. I called them 4 times before I got through, but I got to the person I originally spoke to. He was outraged at the service I've gotten and said he would make sure it is fixed, then gave me to the idiot that told me I would be first today. I think he is the dispatch manager. He gave me his usual response that he would call them and get back to me right away. I asked what "right away" means to him, because Tues it was 6 hrs before the guy called him back, and he never called me back. Aaron gave me his personal email in case this guy can't get it going. Meanwhile, all of our patio furniture is either in the back yard or garage, which means my car is not in the garage and that is not good in So Fla in May. My SIL has yet to pick up the remainder of the pool parts. The lawn guy can't do anything until everything is out of the yard, so we look like a junkyard back there. What isn't covered by furniture or pool parts is sand covering the tarp or whatever the call the layer of plastic they put down to stop the grass from poking thru the pool liner is called. The dogs are having a good time with it, but it's not getting any better- in fact with the dogs digging in it, itis just getting worse.
And my brother is coming on Wed. I was hoping to have it all done by then.
Sandra, how is Mike doing?
Hope everyone has a quiet and healthy weekend.
Anne
