BIRADS 4 waiting for biopsy
I had a second mammogram and ultrasound today and was scheduled for a biopsy Monday. The mass is asymetric 2-3 cm. I'm not sure how to get through the waiting part...waiting for biopsy and results. I'm reading the exam results trying to decipher the terminology...

Hi Blueorange, welcome to Breastcancer.org. We know how hard the waiting can be, but hang in there. Many BIRADS 4 turn out to be benign, and we hope that the biopsy will show that for you too. Please, come back and let us know how it goes!
Best wishes,

Hi blueorange. Sorry you have to be here but welcome. The waiting is horrible. Can you share the exam results so we help you understand them? Try to remember they have to prove you have cancer before you do. In the meantime try to stay busy and spend time with people that make you happy. Good luck and please keep us posted....

Thank you for the response, I've heard that as well. It could be benign.

Hi,
Thank you for the response. The waiting is horrible...but trying to keep busy.
"Irregular hypoechoic mass, area of architectural distortion, mild peripheral blood flow..."
This is on the exam results.

I still have not had the biopsy. It is scheduled for this Tuesday. The last appointment was really a consultation with the breast specialist, and I got blood work. She showed me clear images of my star shaped mass. Of course I reasearched ata shaped masses and terrified myself. Re-read my mammo report and researched descriptive terms on it such as spiculated. Still scared, and waiting.

Blueorange,
Can you post the *full* report of the radiologist report? That would be helpful

Hi please help
I had a mammogram that came back with bi rads 4a rating radiology report says:a cluster of microcalcifications within the left upper outer quadrant if they are not able to do a stereo static biopsy then a surgical biopsy is recommended, these appear slightly more numerous then the previous mammogram done a year earlier and could not be included in the left cc views secondary to their posterior position, these microcalcifications are punctuate and round, slightly heterogenous in size no linear or branching forms are identified, on the lm magnification view there is a possible small macrobolated asymmetry, overall these calcifications span a region measuring 0.4 x 0.3 x 0.3 cm what are the chances this is cancer mammogram also states these breasts are extremely dense. Also how are the biopsies done and what to expect I have tiny breasts to begin with. I am 36 no cancer in the family other than I am a smoker I am overall healthy, diagnosed with fybrosystic breasts last year. Stereotactic biopsy scheduled for August 3

I'm sorry to hear that they found a mass. It's scary. But one thing I learned in the beginning is how to wait. Seemed like everything took forever, scheduling test, waiting on test results, waiting to see a doctor to understand the test results.... Maybe it felt like forever because I was scared, uneducated and confused. I began to Google things. Well, Dr. Google just scared me half to death and I cried for days. Write your questions down. Carry a folder equipped with a calendar, paper and pockets for paperwork, Doctors phone numbers, results and imaging disks to every doctors appointment. I found it easier to have everything with me. My mind was scattered and it was hard to focus. Especially after chemo started.
Don't try to analyze things yourself. The internet will always give you the worse case scenario. I started reading a book that helped. Titled: just get me through this! By Deborah Cohen. Helped educate me in a positive way.
Stay busy and try and spend time with supportive people.
You will get through this! You will do what is necessary and fight through. Your are a woman and that's just what we do. : )
Prayers for you and your family!
Michelle
