19,114 steps = 9.05 miles since last post. TGIF, hope everyone's Fri 13 went OK.
-
Zumba tonight and now that I have two Fitbits I have twice the opportunity to leave them at home... Changed into my workout clothes and forgot to put either one of them on, oh well, there's always tomorrow!!!!
-
Mowed just the front today. 35 minutes. I'm trying to get my son to do the back. Then I walked the dog 15 minutes.
-
Cardio Dance with the FIRM & some arms/abs. It is COLD here; I covered the plants & turned the heat back on last night.
-
My goodness Ruth that's no good, poor plants.
Did special Body Combat class this morning 90 minutes, there were technical difficulties we were supposed to be in the basketball court, no sound so up the stairs we tried to the GGX room then they got the system fixed so down stairs we went again, it was an amazing class and we ended up with 5 instructors on stage.
Was meetIng a friend for lunch so came home and took a shower and when I got out, I put my foot on to the toilet lid to dry my leg when the whole seat snapped off and shot forward, my foot went forward and I went sideways and down and ended up on my side on the shower floor, thank goodness the door was open otherwise I'd have broken the glass door, luckily I just have a bruised left cheek and now I'm home and sitting on ice. -
((Cheryl)) that sounds like a bad fall, glad you're mostly OK. I tripped and fell last week when the sun was in my eyes. Scraped up left elbow & knee and have some lovely bruises but nothing was really hurt but my pride.
On another thread I posted about getting older as reflected in the questions asked by doc at annual exam. They used to ask if I was having sex and using drugs. Now they ask if I've fallen in the past three months and if I'm safe at home.
Nippy here today but the sun was out this afternoon so walked to the library & back. Still counting steps for the day as need to go grocery shopping. That's usually good for a few thousand steps.
-
Cheryl: Your fall sounds so scary! I bet everything was slick and wet from just getting out of the shower. Hope the ice is helping.
Badger: Too funny about the doctor questions!
Ruth: We are turning colder tomorrow also. The high will only be 65. Hope your plants survive.
Walked/ran this morning.

Pretty morning but cold. DH covered his strawberries last night and glad he did as there was frost.
Did 13,765 steps = 6.5 miles yesterday. Headed to Madison tonight to see The Gibson Brothers!

DD#2 is soooo UPSET...She was supposed to go sky diving today and just as we were getting ready to leave, the place called to cancel due to weather. She rescheduled for 2 weeks as she has plans next Sunday. She could go during the week, but I can't go and I want to be there. Two weeks is Memorial Day week-end and we scheduled for Sunday, I'm going to tell her to see if we can do it Monday but she is too upset to call now. You should have heard the drama!! Oh the life of an 18 year old!!! I love her dearly and feel bad for her.
So not sure what to do today...was up early, already got a short walk in....Guess I can run errands and clean house!!
Have a great Sunday.

walked down to post office to drop off some mail and then to Dunkin Donuts to get me and hubby a special treat

Hi Everyone,
I would love to join this group. I have just finished my first week of rads. I am adjusting my exercise routine somewhat but really want to continue so don't have to start all over! Also hopefully will help with fatigue.
I have been doing the 21 day fix DVDs and a couple of classes. I retired 3 years ago and have made the workouts a priority. I am 58 married for 30 years with one grown 26 year old daughter.
Today I did the dirty 30 workout.
-
Welcome PlanB! Glad you found your way to this awesome thread!
I did the treadmill & a little toning today & am now taking a break from some paint touching up in the bathroom. We noticed that the toilet was set on crocked, so back the plumber will come tomorrow. The endless 'small project'!
-
Annie. . .those 15K were just one day. My Dd gets that many but I average about 9K. We try to walk everyday at work and then gym or hiking 4 days per week with gardening in between. It's never enough and I'm always exhausted by 9pm. Ugg. I'm trying to ramp up steps, situps and weights.
Cheryl glad you're OK. Scary. My balance has been off for months. I have to remember to step carefully.
At the gym feeding the Fitbits. Today is our 23rd anniversary. Love that Dh and I can share the gym experience. We'll be planting my anniversary flowers -- more hydrangeas -- when we get home.

Got a bit of another workout. Took the garbage and recycling to the curb and then did the supper dishes.
-
Welcome PlanB. This is a great place to get motivated and stay motivated.
Cheryl, Oh that fall sounds so painful and I can totally see that happening to me. I hope you feel better in a couple of days. Badger, so true about the questions.
Chilly here too. I don't think we had frost but I did cover my newly planted annuals all the same, and brought in two containers. Oh that should qualify for some weight lifting! I also lifted some dumbells today. Then I walked the dog 15 minutes and went to the lake and walked 45. Cool, windy but very sunny. I enjoyed seeing the long grass wave in the wind up and down the hill. I also got to see a beaver swimming and the birds are back and very busy.
Wore myself out but I still need to go to t he grocery store, so I better get going before I collapse!
-
Cheryl, hope you are doing okay!
-
Awww, Cheryl, prayers for complete healing!! Scary fall!!
Annie, great news on your colonoscopy!!
Hi, and Welcome PlanB58!!!
-
Catching up with everyone. Yesterday, I did a 60 mile easy ride on the flats with my old cycling buddy. Speaking of "flats", guess what I got at the far end. I bought him a beer for negotiating most of those logistics and got home just fine so everything worked. THEN, I learned that a friend I hadn't seen for at least a year was in town, so I hosed off the mud (it rained the last 15 miles or so of the ride), jumped into my clean clothes and bussed it into Seattle. Lovely dinner at a Korean place. My friends were impressed.
Today, I drove 2 hours each way to Bellingham for the Brain Cancer Walk. I didn't walk, but did just fine with exercise setting up the table and backdrops. The second was more than tricky as windy, so backdrops work like a sail. (We finally got everything out of the wind.) I also went to the after-party and chatted up the crowd (plus had a brew and burger as was starving).
After glorious weather, we're getting some needed rain. So back to chilly for the moment. Was glad to be wearing my new red windbreaker with a cashmere sweater underneath.
I am glad to be home safe and sound, and yes, ready for my pillow. Busy week ahead. - Claire

I walked yesterday and today w/ my sister. We love to compare our steps on our Fitbits at the end of our walks.
Cheryl-Hope you are doing okay!
Welcome PlanB58, you will enjoy this group
Wonderland and Kindergaten-Thank you!

Welcome PlanB this is a great thread, it does help keep you motivated when you report. Badger that is too funny and unfortunately true. Karen sorry that your daughters sky dive was cancelled but better safe than sorry but at her age it probably seems like the end of the world. Thanks for the well wishes, I am just fine just have a bruise where I hit the rail where the sliding door goes.
This morning did Body Pump class then went to Home Depot and got a new toilet seat and installed it then spent the afternoon roasting vegetables and making a stew so I have dinner for the week and did a little yard work, my gardenias have started to bloom and the bush is loaded for bear with buds, the fragrance is glorious, these were picked this afternoon
-
Cheryl, DD went back to sleep after it was cancelled and when she woke up a couple hours later, she had a new perspective!! I made a comment to her and she said that was me without much sleep. It is rescheduled for May 30th. She knew it could be cancelled for weather, but she had been looking forward to it for a couple months. Day went better after she woke up around 10:30.
I'm taking a self defense course - Krav Maga....it is tough....3 more classes...hope I get better at it
DD and I were talking about going up to the mountains over the long week-end and DH asks, what about the dogs?? Oh yeah, I forgot our dog sitter (son) moved to S.D. on Friday!!
Counting down the days till school is out....3 weeks for me.....4 days for DD and then she graduates high school.....all she has this week is graduation practice. I have had kids in K-12 for 25 years!! I'm ready to be done!!
-
Going to work out later today
-
Claire, just checked in to this thread after a few days. Just read your comments on cycling pants, but had to laugh at your comment about sharing a room with a guy and feeling safe!
OK, back to reading more posts
-
Thank you everyone for the warm welcome! I have been inspired by your commitment to this thread after many of you are done with active treatment! It helps in so many ways!😃
This morning I did PIYO sweat. Starting my 2nd week of rads and learned from first week to do hardest workouts in beginning of week. If any of you Rads veterans have any tips to keep me going I would appreciate it!
Love the conversations about regular real life! Thanks again for the welcome

Welcome PLANB58
I am sorta new to this tread too, but after awile ypu feel like you actually know these girls!
Sooo, Patoo and I are leading a couple Walk Away the Pounds classes here in The Villages Not sure about this! Doing it is OK, but we have to supply the DVD's and have variety. I started last night and offered floor work after for anyone who wants to bring a mat. A couple were interested.....we will see! Phyllis and I will sub for each other.
I am still painting my house!!! However, I think I can be done in a week or two! I cannot do it everyday as my arm starts to hurt, and I am really not supposed to be doing repetitious movements!! Once done, I want to join the Parrotheads here. I heard they have a lot of fun. (Jimmy Buffet fans) and, want to do more deep water aerobics. Getting hot here!
Gotta get moving. Have a great week!

Hi Everyone - wow, you miss logging in for a week or so and pages and pages go by! I'll catch up at some point, but it's nice to see everyone is so busy!
I've been doing a lot of Garden N Sculpt up at the cabin - and since it's located on a very rocky mountain top, gardening is not just a matter of sticking a shovel in and digging a hole because the ground is basically a thin layer of soil covering a lot of boulders and rocks. A pry bar to pry up all those large rocks is a must! And you have pry the rocks out carefully because of all the skinks and salamanders, and I feel so bad when I accidentally hurt one. So it's pretty heavy duty work. My arms and shoulders are sore, but it's a good sore.
The last few weekends we've had a lot of migrating birds go through, so it's been exciting seeing unusual birds (for us) like rose-breasted grosbeaks and redstarts, and two total dazzlers - indigo buntings and scarlet tanagers. And last weekend we woke up to find a HUGE bear plop about 100 feet from the door! So the bears are out and about too.
I've done some running, but not as much as usual, and went to a few yoga classes as well. But we've had a very rainy two weeks and it's been hard to do anything after work but come home, slip into sweats, and curl up.
Tomorrow is colonoscopy day so today is the clear liquids only day - yuk. I'm already sick of Gatorade and ginger ale!
-
Welcome PlanB! Your body will tell you when to rest and when it's okay to move during and after rads. Good luck with it!
Karen: I really need to retake a self defense class. It's been too long.
Cheryl: Glad you only have a bruise. Your gardenias are beautiful!
Mysunshine: I bet you and Patoo are awesome instructors! Good luck with your painting.
Ruth: Small projects will get you every time! I know it's frustrating.
Nats: Wow! You're been busy! I bet your arms are nice and toned. The bird and bear sightings are such a treat. I was thinking about you last night. We went to the Winston Salem Dash game against the Potomac Nationals. The PNs won!
Walked/ran early today. A nice, cool breeze was blowing.
-
I meant to add: Good luck with your colonoscopy tomorrow, Nats!!!
-
Nats. . .you have mm y sympathy. Dh and I had a heck of a night for our his n hers last month. Good luck. Exercise today was just walking at work for 25 minutes. Only 6500 measly steps today. I have got to hit a summer routine.

Hi ladies!
Today I walked w/ my sister, it's always fun to catch up and exercise. I got in 13k steps today. My DH and I rode bikes this evening. It is a busy week at work, as it is the last week of school. We have awards, graduation, and senior walk. I need to exercise for my sanity.
Natsfan - Good luck with your colonoscopy and the prep; I am not sure which is worse. Last Wednesday I had one, which was easier than the last one. Good news-it was all clear. You will be happy when it's over.
Scottie-There are days when we all struggle to get in our steps, but it all adds up.
