Psych meds and chemo

I take an SSRI for depression, and Ritalin for ADD. Will I need to discontinue these during chemo?

    Have a frank talk with your oncologist, GP, and a pharmacist, so that you understand the risks, both from a cancer treatment viewpoint, as well as a mental health viewpoint. After discussions with my treatment team, I discontinued my SSRI just before chemo because it was one of the one's that interacted strongly with tamoxifen. I stayed off it for four months, and then started another SSRI just before starting tamoxifen that had less of an interaction.

    Talk to your Chemo Dr and your psych Dr.

    It is very important to be sure when you are asked to fill the form that says ALL meds and supplements to be honest and complete. There are many contraindications even with just vit/min supplements and Chemo.

    I'm ADD and was told my Dexadrine was fine to take during chemo. I did not take any other meds of any kind when DXd.
