DIEP flap surgery

I'm having my DIEP flap sugery on Monday !! Just wondering what should I expect during my recovery period .. How long does the bloating last ? I'm a small frame and weight 107 lbs if you gain weight after DIEP flap does that ruin the "tummy tuck" look of the stomach ?

    How exciting, I didn't have bloating. The area is pretty numb for a while. You will need pants that are easy on waistline. I bought a couple lounging outfits that I could actually go to the store in. At night a remember kind of strange sensations throughout my front side. You will have to take it really easy and rest.

    I didn't have much pain or discomfort. I have gained weight and it is all over so my stomach looks the same.

    I had my DIEP flap on 3/1/16. My surgery was on Tuesday, and I went home on Friday. Wednesday and Thursday in the hospital were pretty tough. Just having to get up and move after surgery. I went off the pain pump after 24 hours because it was making me nauseous and began taking oral pain medication. That was plenty. When I went home on Friday I went completely off the pain meds.

    My breasts and tummy were a little swollen, but that started going down quickly. Pain was not an problem at all. My biggest issue was having to sleep propped up and on my back. I did this for about 3 weeks before I was allowed to start sleeping on my side. I was also fatigued. I tired easy. I suggest you just rest and enjoy your TV, books, crafts, etc. Your energy will come back pretty quick.

    I went back to work after 4 weeks (desk job). I have not gained any weight. In fact I have lost a few more. I had to tell people not to bring food to me during my recovery. The first week I was home I probably gained 3 lbs.

    I love my flat stomach and new "girls"! I have not had a flat stomach since I was in mu 20's.
