I find Audible really helpful for encouraging my walks. I think, "Oh, good! An hour of reading!"

Agreed! I love Audibles. I have an odd variety and chose whichever book suits my mood that day. :)

I usually have several books in progress, which lets me pick according to my mood (and bathtub vs. non-bathtub). I need to pick what to listen to when I walk a half-marathon on Sunday. Maybe non-fiction.

Go kick that half's butt!!! Let me know what you pick. :) I'm a sci-fi fantasy geek, so I've been enjoying Jim C. Hines Libriomancer.

CJ- awesome! We can be walking buddies! My PS just called, he said I can do whatever i want, just nothing crazy and keep the spanx on. I interpret that to mean-gentle little walks until I'm not woozy from anesthetic, then probably certain yoga poses, and back to long walks and hiking by next monday. I really want this fat to take! Weird side benifit, I have had horrid jaw joint, neck, and arm pit pain, which my MO had ultrasound ed and said was just tight muscles and cording. Well, woke up today and....no pain or movement restriction! Go stem cells go! Guess I just needed a grease job. Feeling very cautiously optimistic....

Most of what's on my iPod right now is F/SF. Finishing Rushdie's Two Years Eight Month and Twenty-Eight Nights today. I might start Vinge's A Fire Upon the Deep or Griffith's Hild next week. I have Cooper's Silver on the Tree going as my bathtub book.

I'm another Audible subscriber! I just finished Alex Haley's "Roots". The two I've got going are The Great Courses "The Story of Human Language" and a novel called "An Irish Country Doctor". Next I need a good mystery or good SF. I listen to a lot of podcasts too.

LBF, it's great to hear that you woke up pain-free!! Hope it continues.

I hiked more than 40,000 steps (per my Fitbit) today and I'm worn out.

Nice job Moondust!! I can imagine you're worn out! :) I'm all excited about my 3-4 mile walk today. :p

I'm going to start Stephen King's Dark Tower series today on Audible. I hear it's amazing, but I tried to get through the first book on Kindle and couldn't. I find I can listen better than read sometimes.

Hey, CJ, you are doing great! You really embody my attitude of doing what you can do instead of focusing on what you can't do! My hike yesterday was the longest I've done since my surgery in January. I try to read at bedtime, but usually get too sleepy after about 2 pages. Audible is perfect for me.

ksusan, my walking thoughts are with you tomorrow! You can do it!

phoebe, I loved the little bit of kayaking I did a few years ago. It will be my go-to activity when my knees get too creaky to hike. You can easiiy start doing daily upper body exercise at home with stuff you have around the house. Go for it!

KSusan - that is so AWESOME!!! I love it!! What a fun idea with the bracelet!

Today I had a friend and her son come to visit and bring some goodies (she brought some amazing things!). We walked to breakfast (about a mile) and back. So 2 miles there. And I'm about to do some Fe Fit Upper Body work. It's too hot to walk the dogs, and I feel bad. So it'll be an early morning tomorrow so I can get them a nice long walk before it gets hot.

Way to go ksusan!! Hope the knees are doing fine too. Love the variety of charms and the t-shirt!!!

I did more this weekend than I have done in ages... felt good:) Mowed lawn at home, then went to lake and painted small bathroom there - up and down ladder... twist and stretch over bathtub... repeat... whew!! And a very brisk 5 k walk with a [loooong legged] friend out there.

    Congrats, ksusan!

My right glute/hamstring/hip area is little painful after my long hike Friday. Probably the IT band or something close. I'll still do my daily steps but I'll spread them out over the day. I'll try some stretches too.

CJ, I want to get into the habit of walking early while it is still cool, but so far I haven't had much luck changing my bed time.

Phoebe, WTG with all the activity!

I'm working from home today, so I took the dogs for a nice 2 mile walk this morning, and just signed up for Barre 3 online streaming ($15 a month - it's a good deal). I did the 30 Minute Standing Slim as that was an easier one and I got a nice total body workout while standing. Hoping I can continue with these. :)

Moondust - I'm one of those crazy morning people. And my big dogs can handle the heat - they have coats that protect them. It's my little twerp of a dog, Murdock, who is short (weighs 20 pounds) and is low to the ground, so when we walk over the sidewalk, the heat reflects right on his under belly, and he over heats. He's good on hikes, but sidewalks, no. Unfortunately, I can't always get him to trails. He's also blind and only has one eye now (yeah, he's blind in one eye and can't see out of the other...). And yes, he's named after Matt Murdock or DareDevil - the blind superhero - my daughter named him.

Maybe wait a day or two?

My Zumba/aerobics instructor is giving us a very challenging set of dances. So far, with judicious modification, my knee is holding up.

I just did a 5k - it was local, so I walked to the start and back, adding another mile. With the dog walk, it was about 5 miles total for today. I enjoyed it. It was my present to myself for completing my last AC round of chemo. I have 4 more of Taxol, but that'll be a new experience.

CJ, congrats on being done with AC! The five miles you walked today sounds perfect.

Octogirl, super good that you are actually down a few after vacation! It sounded like you really enjoyed some good food too!

Good stuff! I've decided that weekends are when I work on weights and the balance ball. If I wind up walking, fine. If not, fine as long as I'm near my weekly mile target.

Nice job LBF!!! That is tough stuff!! You give me hope! The Yosemite Search and Rescue team has a similar test and when I was on the Santa Clara County Search team, I wanted to apply for Yosemite, so I trained for it - but they only do 40 pounds. That was 15 years ago and I was in top shape, but man, the training was tough. I'm in awe of you.
