WOW! Thank you so much DelandTweet, what great information! I'll put it to good use! I just got off the phone with my insurance they assured me it was still "under review" and should go thru in the next couple of business days. I'll keep my prayers said and cross my fingers that it's not just lip service. If it takes much longer I'll make that call to a tv station!

Best wishes, prayers and love to all

    Hi ladies-- .,

Just wanted to extend my best wishes to all the moms out there this Sunday. Whether you mothered sons, daughters, sons of sons, sons of daughters, daughters of sons, daughters of daughters, or been a mother to bats, hermit crabs, dogs, cats, birds, giraffes, dot.com owners, website possessors, food processors, loan officers, organ donors, door openers, open doors, the Doors' Jim Morrison, any Morrison, wax museum managers, art museum goers, loose-lipped owners, tight-lipped owners, tight-assed owners, no-assed owners, car owners, car lenders, lone wolves, wicked elves, wicked witches, sons-of-bitches, britchesless bitches, saucy dishes, salty dishes, broken wishes, broken noses, harried roses, awesome poses, awestruck novices, ancient hostesses, losing battles, shattered rattles, angered wattles, downy whales--

    In other words

    WHATEVER you've mothered--

Pantaloon and I want to wish you

A SUNDAY SUNNY FULL OF THANKFULNESS AND BRIMMING WITH MAY-NESS!

Thanks, Trill! Same to you! Relax and enjoy the day! It's supposed to be nice weather here so I am looking forward to getting out in it, if only for a few minutes, between celebrations with family.

    That sounds excellent, DisneyGirl!

Pantaloon is upset that I haven't wished her an early happy Mother's Day. When I tried to explain that she's not a mother, she said, "But I have nipples! Or tits! Or maybe both!" And when I told her that we women ALL have those--or, as in my case, once did--she said, "Well, then, who takes care of YOU?"

She had me there. So a pour of bad-for-her-but-delicious cat kibbles--crank for cats--in her bowl in appreciation...

    Hi Molly50--

So glad you like them! I agree they'd make a neat gift--I've given away quite a few of these to friends. Right now five of them are at Evergreen Museum. I have $55 on them there. I'm working on setting up a little website and will put them on it, including mentioning that I have some for sale. If you want to pursue this, check at trishrawlings.com later on this month--I have to learn web-site-ing first. (I'd of course adjust my selling price for BCO-ers.)

    Thanks for the compliment! t.

P.S. Molly50--- Those in the photo are a folding-block toy--eight blocks that unfold and fold up endlessly in your hands. As I was working on this project it occurred to me that maybe just the individual cubes themselves in a box might be a nice gift also. As I've given away many many individual little blocks and people have enjoyed those, why not box them up and sell them as well? I've been selling the individual blocks for $10 apiece to a friend who has lots of disposable income but think I'm gonna come down a bit on those...ten seems steep to me, but of course it doesn't to someone like her! Hah!

Trill - I loved your Mother's Day word slam. It rolled and rolled and felt so good to read.

I checked out your website - awesome that while it is in progress it has posted "future home of something quite cool" - I have no doubt it will be.

MelissaDallas - my mom gave me a quilt she had made for me this past winter yesterday - what a lot of thought and work. I can see how enjoyable it is for you. Neat, I'm not sure if have the patience or stic-to-it-ness required.

WenchLori - hope you are getting that garden fence planted. I spent all day yesterday in my moms garden digging and moving and weeding and then attacked the weeds in my raspberry canes today at my place. I love working in the garden. My oldest enjoys it too and we had a lot of fun today scratching up soil, mixing in compost, and planting the wildflower mix he got from the side of the Cheerios box.

JBeans, I got most of my fence up on Friday, I had planed on finishing it yesterday but the rain came. I needed to find my Giant African Blackberry and my Giant Blueberry plants and had to do some weeding. I palnted my yellow raspberry bush once I was done with the weeds. I put bird netting up over my small cherry tree. I bet that was a sight with me jumping up and down with a stick to get it over the top! Good thing most of my neighbors go to the same church as I do and know I'm not totally crazy!!

Hi JuniperCat--I have my domain name (trishrawlngs.com) but no actual website yet.... right now I'm deciding which site-builder thingy to go with.... I'm a slow learner re things technical but am trying to get it going.... I'll let you know when things are good to go for you to check out....

WenchLori--Are you interested in a set of the loose blocks or the tumbling blocks toy? That is taped together in such a way that it folds and unfolds in your hands kind of mysteriously (I gave one to my breast surgeon back after my post-op visit and as I was passing her office after getting my prosthesis prescription I saw her in there at her desk, elbows on the desk, the tumbling block toy in her hands, letting it roll open and close and shut and open again, completely oblivious of things going on around her....in an odd way it's both a calmative and a stimulant. )

JBeans-- So glad you liked my mom's day slam! That's interesting that when you checked for my website you found something but as of today--early Monday morning--I've done nothing on it. Maybe it's something they just put there...

Today I was busy laying out the 2700 blocks to see how they all will look--how long and wide I should make the eventual serpentine sidewalk for the exhibit in December. Then I boxed them up and rolled up my old rug, so worn out it's like a big piece of cloth!--and then my new rug went down. It looks good. Am so glad I bought it!

So now that those chores are over with I'm gonna dive into the mysteries of website building...

I'll let you know how things are going....thanks so much for your interest...

Trill, I can't wait to see the website when it is up and running. And I definitely think there would be interest in the single blocks as well as the tumbling sets. I think it is great that you saw your breast surgeon playing with the one you gave her. I think you are going to miss making those plastic boxes. Ha! Onward and Upward!!!

Trill, I would pay $10.00 for one block. I don't think it is too much for something like that. I would pay the $55.00 for the folding/unfolding blocks as well. So beautiful and different!

Hi all-- This is so heartening to hear of your liking of the blocks and the block toy! The block sidewalk is now in four big boxes, having been put to the side while I get the new rug moved in and readjust things....

I'm now being told that a website building company called iPage is much easier than GoDaddy.... so I still have research to do...will keep you informed as things proceed...

DisneyGirl---that's so funny because I actually DID find myself looking at the plastic box tools and thinking, "Wonder when will be the next bunch I make?..." I sorta do miss it, like focused work. I think it calms the mind and centers you. Nowadays with all the distractions/choices/temptations etc out there I think we all need all the focusing tools we can find! Like quilting! Gardening! Cooking! Knitting! Boxing!

No, no, not that kind of boxing...althougth THAT kind of boxing ALSO tends to center the mind.....

Trill, are the blocks something a young child could play with? My daughter puts all of the really neat things that are given to my grandchildren on a book shelf in their rooms until they are old enough to play with them. I'm anxiously waiting for your website to be up and running, but I think I would like both the set and the singles. I don't think $10 is high for a single box, I'd pay that for hours of mind calming I can get

    Smile

    HI WenchLori--

The individual blocks are 1 and 1/4" and so are pretty small....I guess the question is how young a child. Very little ones like to put anything in their mouths and I imagine the single cubes would be pretty inviting. The tumbling blocks cube is 2 1/2" square and those same young fingers might find it challenging to open and shut it etc. These I think would be perfect on that until-he-or she is-ready shelf.....

I'm working on the site. Boy, there's so much more to it than when I had a website back in--what?--2006! Will keep you informed as things proceed. The blocks are chomping at the bit--if you can picture a block chomping on something--to "go public."
