Joint pain
Hello, I have been diagnosed with stage III A , grade lll. ILC breast cancer. I have my bone scan next Friday. I'm wondering if joint pain could be bone cancer? I don't have stiffness just knees & elbows pain??? Already had right mastectomy. 4 out of my 6 nodes were Micro scopic positive . I'm so scared it spread to my bones??? Starting chemo May 20th. Thank you for any advice you can give me .

My sister has the same type of BC. She had joint issues too. Idk of course but it doesn't necessarily mean bone cancer. I think it comes with the territory unfortunately. I have it myself and I'm almost 5 years out with IDC but I also have borderline osteoporsis plus I take Tamoxifen which doesn't help.
Try not to worry. I know hard to do. Worry is the buzz word for BC patients.
Keep the faith and keep us posted.

You did not have a Bone Scan or full body CT/MRI with contrast, or a PET scan done before TX?Your MO (Chemo Dr) did not discuss neoadjuvant chemo as a better option before going straight to SX? Will you be having a DEXA test (bone density test) before starting Chemo? A Bone Scan and a DEXA are not the same - Scan will show bone mets (if there are any), a DEXA shows bone density, ie. osteopenia or osteoporosis.
As you had nodes removed - have you seen an LymphEdema Tech for a baseline evaluation and education? Unfortunately, most Drs have very little knowledge about LE which is a possibility after any surgery (even non-invasive surgery) even without any nodes being removed or after any traumatic injury. Sooner is better than waiting til LE developed (IF IT DOES). Be sure that the PT or OT does have the additional education in LE - my LET guy is an OT.

I'm having tests done this Friday, May 13TH. I'm having a CT scan on my chest abdomen and pelvis. A bone scan and a Echo Doppler test. I start chemo next Friday May 20th. Which tests should I be asking for besides these ? I'm listening to my oncologist but you seem to be very knowledgable & I want to be very proactive. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
