Pain after lumpectomy and radiation

Hi there ladies...

First time here - finally decided to look online to see if I can find information on the pain I am still experiencing. I had a lumpectomy for Stage 0 DCIS (I feel unworthy next to all of you!) on July 13, then started daily radiation in August which ended the beginning of October.

Although my scar has healed nicely, my nipple is still scabby from the rads. I lost half the outer pigment on my aureole when the tech & I mistakenly agreed to use that clear saran-wrap like tape to cover my Sharpie marks to preserve them! I had a bad reaction and what a mess.

I am still having shooting pains daily in my breast, under the nipple and I am still sensitive to lie on that side. When on earth will this finally subside? Does anyone know? I went to the gym a week ago and did an easy workout of just treadmill and bike and my breast hurt like crazy all that night and the next day. But these shooting pains are nuts. Not to mention having a hard time sleeping. So any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks so much.

I'm three months out from radiation and the pain (shooting pain in the breast and aching along the chest wall) has vanished in the last week. The radiologist considered this normal. The surgeon warned that persistant neuropathic pain is common and should be treated aggressively with medication (mostly anti-convulsants), physicial therapy, and injections along the affected nerves. I was considering all that when I suddenly felt better! Hope you feel better soon.

Hello ladies, Anybody here? The posts on here are old. Well, I was diagnosed last June with triple positive IDC. Stage 1 Grade 3, 2.1cm mass but no lymph node involvement. I had a lumpectomy,6 rounds of chemo & 20 rounds of rads. I'm done but remain on Herceptin until August. I have breast tightness & tenderness along with some slight swelling. I understand it takes a very long time to get back to some kind of normal. Thank you & bless you all. 🌻
