Pain after treatment

Hello!

I was diagnosed with stage 3 IDC last April. By May, I had a lumpectomy which turns out my Margins weren't clear and also the two sentinel nodes were also cancerous. Wondering if another lumpectomy was worth it, I asked my surgeon if there was anything we could do to make sure we get everything at the next surgery, and if lumpectomy was still the right choice. She sent me for a breast MRI. Turns out, I had two additional tumors in my breast, and a fibroadenoma in the left breast. In July, I opted for an mx of the right breast, and she also did a full axillary dissection. I had 2 additional nodes that came up as cancerous. 4/19 total. I started chemo in August - 4 ac and 4 taxol. Immediately after, I did 31 rounds of radiation. Now I am on aromasin and Lupron to shut my ovaries down ( I am 27). My worry is that I continue to have breast pain and armpit pain similar to the pain that sent me to the doctors originally. What should I do? I have voiced these concerns to my oncologist, she said she is not worried, but I am. She also palpated to see if she could feel any lumps, but nothing. It worries me a great deal because even with 3 tumors and 4 cancerous nodes, the only thing that was able to actually be felt was my original tumor. Please help and give me advice! TYIA!

    HI!

I hope you are doing well. If you are not comfortable with what your MO is telling you I would recommend getting a second opinion? You need to be confident in your care team. Hoping the pain has went away by now for you ( I usually give myself the 2 to 3 week rule)

nsweeney43, I am so very sorry to hear all of this misery that has hit you, so young too. I think, first off it is good to check things, but you have done that. Are you having terrible pain? Then bug your doc about that. You are entitled to have them help you with pain . That being said, having breast and axilla pain following all the surgical damage, chemo and then rads, well no wonder. Then being thrust into Chemopause/hormonal control, that has got to cause pain in and of itself. Cruise on down to the Rads, long term side effects posting. Quite a few of us have pain following all the "treatment " heaped upon our unsuspecting heads. http://www.bmj.com/content/346/bmj.f1865

Have you thought about a Young Survivors Group, then you can get good info from someone in a similar situation, close by to you. Good luck and I hope you get help and relief of the pain really soon.

nsweeney.....Im so sorry you are going through this at such a young age. I hate this disease! My advice is to follow your gut. Seek a second opinion if you are not happy with what this one is saying. Also I just want to make sure you are being treated at a university based teaching hospital. Where you are treated is a key component of this journey. Good luck to you and keep us posted please....

    Hi,

The best natural thing I ever used from pain is frankincense. I dont think its stronger then prescription pain pills. But if you want some alternative then its your best bet. I started using after I read about it online. After I tried it, i was surprised.

here's some more info about it.
