Finding a job?

Options

December of last year, I was laid off. In January of this year, I began looking for a job. I put in hundreds of resumes and went on many interviews, but no offers. (Well, that's not true. I did have two different offers, but the pay was much less than what I needed, so I declined.) I am a certified medical biller/coder. In October of this year was when my breast cancer saga began....mammograms, ultrasounds, and biopsies until I was finally diagnosed the beginning of November.
My surgery is scheduled for December 10th. After that, I will have radiation. I've already been told that radiation will be every day, five days a week. (Not sure for how long just yet.)
So obviously I won't be able to work for a while.
I'm trying to find something that I can do from home. I don't need to make a ton of money, just enough to help out some. My husband is a police officer and has taken on a few extra jobs to bring in some more money....I would really like to help him in any way that I can. I hate that he's having to work so hard because of my medical bills.

Does anyone have any idea on work from home jobs that aren't a scam? I could do medical billing from home but in order to do that, I would have to find doctors who would be willing to hire me. I can't really go around to different doctor's offices right now trying to promote myself, so that's out.
I've "googled" work from home jobs, but there are so many scams out there, it's hard to tell which is real and which is not.
