    1. I was told to take B6 100 mg/day or B complex AND 800-1000 mg/day of Folic Acid for the leg cramps, and NOT to drink tonic water because the quinine counteracts the Tamoxifen. Has anyone else ever been advised to only drink one cup per day of tonic water?

I am on/nor have been, on Tamox (have been on Femara/letrozole for 6+ yrs) but for leg cramps, you might want to have your K (potassium), Mg (magnesium) and Zn (zinc) levels checked and their ratios to each other. The 3 minerals are very important for muscle and nerve function and be in the correct ratios. Just adding one or more as supplements is not a good idea unless it is known what is low (or out of balance) or too high as too much can also cause bad issues.

If the cramps are coming on after quite a she in bed (as in 'later morning/before getting up) it could be an issue of dehydration. Many will start limiting fluid into at supper so to limit getting up to go to the bathroom during the night - by the time it's getting on to late morning, dehydration may be happening.

It is possible for blood flow to be an issue as while up and walking/moving around during the day the calf muscles work to help pump blood.

I know basically nothing about quinine other than some like "gin and tonic" as an adult beverage and "tonic" is carbonated water with a small amount of quianine in it. The other thing I know about it is that it was/has been a TX for malaria for a very long time - not sure if it is still used or not.

A foot board on'in your bed might help.

Best to talk with your Dr(s) and get some blood work done to check out several min. and vit. levels before blindly adding in supplements that may ght cause more harm than good.

I noticed that a few posters mentioned Restless Leg Syndrome.

I found out the hard way that Benadryl (and the stronger, prescription forms like Hydroxizine) causes me to have RLS.

Stopped the Benadryl, the RLS stopped. Worth taking a look at if you are bothered by this.

I knowit hasbeen said before, but Magnesium deficiency is a very important cause of muscle cramping in your legs and feet. It is a very safe mineral to take, you can not overdose unless you have bowel or kidney obstruction. If you have too much, you just get loose stools. Tamoxifen and Aromatase Inhibitors cause depletion of Magnesium. So do many of the chemo meds. Here is a link to an article by pharmacist Suzy Cohen about which medications cause Magnesium deficiency. Magnesium is so safe that if a woman has eclampsia during labor they give Magnesium in her IV. Magnesium oxide is not much use for anything but constipation. I like Magnesium glycinate, or a topical Magnesium Chloride spray I got once online at Amazon.com.
