edited April 2016 in Waiting for Test Results

Trying not to panic but struggling.

About 4 weeks ago I felt a lump in the inside of my right breast, towards my sternum. Waited two weeks for my period but it didn't go away. Made apt with my doctor, saw her last week. She was concerned enough to send an urgent referral to breast clinic, I was in by Monday (yesterday) for mammo and ultrasound. They said lump was about 4cm, I swear it appeared overnight. :-(. My boobs are small, it wasn't there last month.

They did multiple mammos, in and out at least 4 times. Ultrasound and followed up the same day with US guided core biopsies the same day. Not planned so now I'm sick with worry. Three sites (3; 6 and 7:30). 9 samples in all. One of the bottles (I peeked when tech left the room) suggested checking lymph nodes for metastasis. Is there a lymph node by 6 or 7:30?

I feel like I've been mistaken for a pin cushion and am beyond myself with worry. Not sure how I will make it to Monday. Is it possible for a lump to grow that fast!? I have an A cup - you can just about see it. Not sure how I will last another week of waiting.

    Mousey-

We are so sorry for the worry and anxiety you're going through! The waiting is so, so hard. Try to keep your mind busy until Monday, and whatever you do, stay off Dr. Google. Please keep us posted when you get your results, we'll be thinking of you!

Mousey, I'm so sorry you're going through this. The period you're in now is the worst, for everybody. The waiting is the worst. Once we know what's going on, even if the news is that it is breast cancer, things get easier. It's the not knowing that's the worst. It sounds like your medical team is taking things seriously and they're on top of it and they'll take good care of you.

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing very similar problems. My lump appeared seemingly overnight as well, and with my breasts also being small I am sure I would have noticed it sooner otherwise. Atleast it seems your process is moving very quickly, having a consult, ultrasound, and biopsy in one day. Unfortunately my lump was noticed on a Friday, saw my OBGYN that day, refered for ultrasound a week later, and a consult for a biopsy a week after that, and finaly a biopsy today. All in all it took a full month from noticing the lump to getting a biposy. Now, we wait for good news.

Got my results. In the week between Doctor appointment and now the tumour has easily doubled.

Path report shows Invasive Mammary Carcinoma. Appointment with surgeon Monday, dammit wish it wasn't the weekend. Apparently negative for hormones but don't know any more as of yet.

I feel as though someone turned my world upside down and is now shaking it for fun. Doesn't help that I lost my mom to very aggressive sarcoma this fall.

If anyone has suggestions on what I should ask/discuss with surgeon I would really appreciate it. Large teaching hospital so feeling optimistic in that sense.

Oh my goodness, I am so sorry. Words cannot describe how sorry I am. I received very similar news today. Invasive Lobular Carcinoma. I honestlywas not expecting this. Not AT All. I almost feel like there must of been a mistake. It doesn't seem real. I pray we both get the best news we could hope for at this point.
