I'm 26 and in Oct 2015, I was told that I was high risk for breast cancer after a lump removal surgery. May 2016 will be my first every 6 month US and mammogram. I have found two new lumps that I'm really nerves about. I just join this because I talk to people about it but I feel like they real cant relate and all they say is your to young so dont worry about it.Some night just knowing that I'm high risk really gets the best of me and I just cry and it really stress me out.I just have some questions that I hope someone can help me with.

Has anyone that was high risk went to their 6 month mammograms and found out that they had breast cancer? will this get easier with time? Will it be better for me to get on medication to hep lower my chances?

    Hi shay1989,

    I'm 25 years old and feel like I'm basically going through the same thing. Last July, I found a lump that turned out to be 3.9cm big. I had surgery to remove it, and pathology reports stated they found radial scar and ADH. That, along with my age, puts me at a 42% lifetime risk of developing breast cancer (based on the Tyrer Cuzick scale.)

    I had my 6 month post op MRI a month ago..they found another lump. This time, a 9mm mass causing concern within a 2.2cm grouping of microcalcofications. I had a mammogram and ultrasound to confirm-surgery is scheduled for next Friday to get it removed.

    I won't know for sure if this lump contains cancer until it's biopsied, but my surgeon said the mammograms don't look like cancer, you just never know until it's fully biopsied.

    I can completely relate to how you're feeling right now. Did they find anything in the first lump you had removed

    It was a 6cm lump that they say was papillary lesion of the breast...

    Hi Shay and Dearjamie - I'm sorry you both have to be here but I want to welcome you to our group. This group is a life line for me. I am being monitored every 6 months for 2 years because of bilateral faint calcifications. I suffer almost daily with anxiety as a result of the process. The only people who understand my anxiety are women who are in a similar situation.

    Shay - Did they tell you what they found and why you are high risk? Have you thought about calling your doctor to let them know about the 2 new lumps?

    Dearjamie - there is a group on these boards for ADH. Lots of very smart, well informed, caring ladies in that group who are going through lots of testing and surveillance.

    Djabi53-it definitely feels like some tough cards we've been dealt. I never thought at 25 that I would have to be dealing with anything like this. Thank you for your thoughts!

    I'll meet with my surgeon at some point next week to see what a follow up plan will be this time around. It's just tough because she's told me herself she's not 100% sure how to continue a treatment plan with me since I'm too young for medications like tamoxifen, and she doesn't like to order mammograms also because of my age, even though that's where I end up anyway.

    Have you had any biopsies/surgeries? Or is it just the calcifications they're seeing and wanting to monitor?

    The lump I had remove was 6cm from my right breast..I went to a different doctor about 2 years ago and he never didn't anything taking about I'm to young and that it probably was a cyst..but last year my GYN referred me to my doctor now and he did the biopsy,removed the lump,and tested it more...on May 3 I get a mammogram..they said the lump I had removed was not cancer but it was cancerous..so if they let it sit it give cancer a place to grow so thats why they removed it...he really didn't get into detail because he wants to wait into my 6month mammogram.. I think he really didn't want to scare me so he said once I have this mammogram and he look and see if any thing else grown or came then we will talk about all my options...
