Her2+ but no targeted therapy

Anyone out there who is Her2+ but unable to be on a targeted therapy? My heart function (EF) fell again on herceptin and so it was discontinued. I can't do TDM1 because my heart function isn't high enough yet. If my heart recovers this will be the first thing they try I think. Haven't been on it yet. Herceptin is off the table as both times I have been on it my EF has fallen to 40%. I am currently on beta blockers and an ace inhibitor. My only saving grace is that my last scan was NED so hoping that it will stay that way even without a targeted therapy. But last time I was off targeted therapy, I was diagnosed with mets in my brain and liver within 6 months.

So looking for others who aren't on targeted therapy and are doing well.

Thanks

Hi left foot, I stopped herceptin because the side effects were getting too bad. I had been Ned for 4 years when I stopped in jan, 2015 and am still Ned 15 months later.
Hopefully the heart meds will work and you can go back on.
I have heard other women who have probems with dropping ef to take coq10 and do daily exercise to help the heart.

    Good luck

Dear Left Foot, so sorry you are having heart problems. Been there and done that. My Ef went down to 10 and 5 months off H& P it was back up to 40. My onc was very anxious to get me back on H$P so she let me start at 40. That was the fall of2014 and these days I'm at about 55. NED on H&P since fall 2013. Of course in still on my cardiac meds, but that's fine with me. Maybe your cardiologist and onc could talk and find a compromise so you can stay on H& P. Good luck. Marsh

Hugs from me too! I have my echo on Friday...always that concern you're facing...that our wonder drug, herceptin, can have a devastating effect on our hearts :-( You've been one of our mighty warriors, Leftfoot, and I truly expect this to be a another battle that you will conquer! My prayers that a break will boost your heart (we know how strong it is!) and your body will stay in its NED position!!! XOXO
