oops sorry for double. I had to get it because my DH broke the SD slot on the computer we use for travel. Luckily we don't share any of the others. ☺
-
Lisa - Will be talking to someone at the Geek Squad tomorrow. That card reader looks cool! Glad your DH has his own computer...
mine has had his in the shop too many times to count. He keeps downloading stuff that he thinks is legitimate, but are really viruses. DOH!

This isn't hummer-related, but yesterday I was looking out the kitchen window at my ceramic birdbath. Every day, a huge blue jay comes by for a drink, but yesterday, he jumped right in and gave himself a VERY energetic bath! He splashed around and around, then jumped to the edge and shook himself like a dog. His feathers stuck up everywhere. Then he kept repeating it!
I so wished I had videotaped it... he looked like he was having fun! (or getting rid of mites....
)

I would have loved to see that video.
I was just outside trying to get a hummingbird pic but he flew away so I took this picture instead.
-
entranced for an hour watching these two tiny males fight
-
We are getting the rufus back. I saw a momma getting my cat hair out of the mesh container I put out.
When I was in barbados in March I saw a beautiful hummingbird, I didn't have my camera handy darn!
-
our rufus is back too...boo
-
Thursday was in the 80's and saw 1st ruby-throated hummingbird. Hummers will be busy at the feeder with possible snow Sunday night.

Nancy (bandwoman1234) posted an enjoyable hummer video on the *Bird Watching Club* thread. ;o)

Just a reminder to anyone in really hot temps: sugar water starts to get VERY nasty in a a very short time.
If it just fermented, maybe the hummers would like it, but it stinks, and causes rapid mold growth.
We always wash our feeders each time we fill them (very hot water and no soap) but YIKES! We saw some awful stuff when it was 105 for a few days in a row.
Didn't matter if they were in sun or shade... now we make up less solution and only fill them halfway, and do it more often. The hummers seem to appreciate it. They avoid the old stinky stuff and guzzle the new solution.
-
Blessings,
Thank You for the reminder and information!! I am cleaning and filling the hummer feeder this weekend. ;o)
-
Today was my 1st sighting and pic of a monarch butterfly during 2016.
May still get a hummer pic during the Fall. ;o)
-
Labor Day was my 1st pic of a ruby-throated hummingbird during 2016.
I accidentally took a digital silhouette pic. ;o)
The hummer is getting nectar from the acapulco salmon and pink agastache, also known as hummingbird mint.

Today was my 2nd pic of a ruby-throated hummingbird during 2016.

Just saw my first hummingbird of the year and hung out one of the feeders. Seems sort of early for here in TN, but everything seems early this year. The asparagus has been up for a couple of weeks already. Definitely spring time. Happy Easter everyone.
-
Wayyy to early for hummers in the North Country! ;o)
-
I am presently enjoying the hummingbirds here in Equador
-
-
I think they are a green hermit and the other one is a wire crested.
-
Teka. That was the strangest hummingbird I have ever seen at a feeder.
-
;o))
-
mumito, nice hummer pics!!
I've only seen ruby-throated hummingbirds in the North Country.
I would love to travel and also see other species of hummers.
-
I have yet to ID these next two
